Roatan, Honduras.... I'm still amazed at how few people know about the Bay Islands of Honduras, and how inexpensive it is (we divers know about it, because the diving is fantastic, and the beers are 50 cents!).

We are going to Grand Cayman in April. I just found out a couple of weeks ago that I'm pregnant, so we wanted a 'babymoon' in a nice, safe location that had a nice beach and water, great snorkeling, and great restaurants. Can't wait :)
|
Good choice beachgirl86. We went there last June and loved it. We didn't do a babymoon, never heard of one until reading through travel forums. What a wonderful idea though!
We're planning on visiting Turks & Caicos in March 2008. We chose it because it sounds like a quiet, relaxing place with a beautiful beach. |
I'm aiming for Puerto Rico in March/April. :D
|
I have a trip to St. Barths booked because it is my favorite place on Earth (next to my home).
I would also like to go to Cozumel for the Scuba diving. I hear that it is a bargain there. |
Tulum in January (is that really the Caribbean though?)
Anegada in May Planning on Long Island, Bahamas in September, but that could change... |
In June, I am planning on going to the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas for a week, and then transfering over to Little Dix Bay for another week. Sounds good! I choose the two hotels/islands because I want both shopping/entertainment and isolation.
|
I'll be at Timothy Beach Resort in St Kitts for the month of February.
|
Finally settled on and booked:
1. St. Martin for March 2. Staniel Cay, Bahamas for June (that trip is just my husband and me - fun!) :-) |
This will be our 17th year in the Caribbean. Still deciding where to return to. Each island has things you like and don't like.
Our favorites that we do return to are St. John and the British Virgins, Anguilla, St. Bart's, and Barbados. Leaning toward Anguilla. |
Turks and Caicos in February, can't wait!
|
New to this board under this name - I can't stop counting down out loud...and home with a sick child I must keep my count down on....3 weeks one day to St. Kitts for Two weeks!!! YEAH St.Kitts!!
|
I just booked St John again for May :D.
|
We will be in Curacao in April for the first time. While I LOVED St. John USVI, I can't afford to go there (Caneel Bay is a lot of money, and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in St. John), but Curacao looks quaint and friendly-- and it has great snorkeling!! Staying with Marriott points and upgrading to an Oceanfront room. I can't wait. I'm ready for a new adventure anyway-- I don't travel that much, so it's good that I try a different island.

I have never been to the Caribbean.
Have been all over Europe and Hawaii and Fiji, I am looking into my first trip here. Not really sure where to visit. I was thinking about Sheraton Grand Bahama Island Lucaya Resort. Is there alot of things to do. In fiji it was beautiful but you were limited on the outer islands. Any information will be helpfull. Thanks |
mike....You might want to post this question with a title that states your question so that you would get a greater response.
Having said that, I am not sure that Grand Bahama would be my first choice of an introduction to the Caribbean. Nothing personal, but it is fairly comercialized, IMHO. The out islands like Eleuthera are not. It would help if you would state what you liked about Fiji and which island(s) you visited in Hawaii so that folks can help more. This is a very helpful site. We have been to St. Martin..French side 3x, Aruba, St. Kitts and Nevis...3x, Guadeloupe and Freeport Bahamas and Maui (yes, not Caribbean, but beautiful). I can try to answer questions about those if you'd like. |
iw,
thanks for the help. I enjoy hiking, snorkling.kayacking. I also would like some nighlife activities. On Fiji the resort was the only place on the island. |
Negril for two weeks late June/early July. All 6 of us again...that is the plan!
|
Hey CS,
Have a great vacation!! Should be a piece of cake for ya this time around. I'll bet the H's will keep you hopping on the beach. They will be old enough to run around all over the place. Fun! |
mike....St. Kitts, Nevis and Guadeloupe have great hiking/rain forests and ok snorkeling. There is really no nightlife in Nevis. The Marriott's casino in St. Kitts is pretty good and there are beach bars near it. Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack and Ziggys are good.
I don't know about kayaking....My husband is a certified diver and had a great dive in St. Kitts. Most islands have watersports of some type and equipment for rental. |
