Anguilla. You can go to a different yet more beautiful beach every other day.

jayded1 Apr 29th, 2003 04:27 AM

think of Bermuda...clean, easy flight connections, great beaches, clear blue waters some of the best diving and fishing in the world.

Absolutely St. John in the USVI, Caneel Bay resort or a villa. Check out www.usvi-on-line.com.

I think the BVI's would be great for a 12-day honeymoon with white sand and clear water. You could split your time among the different islands instead of spending the entire 12 days in one place.

Beaches that are not crowded and absolutely the most beautiful, ANGUILLA. We went on our Anniversary. It is perfect. We stayed at the Sonesta and rented a Scooter. It has been our favorite trip to the Caribbean. We have taken quite a few. Enjoy!

To jaded1-my wife and I weren't all that impress with Bermuda. Don't get me wrong, the people were very nice, very polite and civil. The beaches were lovely and the water very clean and clear. When we were there it was packed with cruise ships, which really crowded things. And all in all, we thought it was too much like being at home in the U.S.

TiffanyLynn: there are some absolutely wonderful islands that I think meet your criteria. Among them are the Islands of Tahiti, BVI, Fiji and our favorite, St. Barts. You didn't mention what month you're planning your honeymoon, and that would play an important part as to how crowded it will be. St. Barts is relatively uncrowded from April through November. We were in both Fiji, and Tahiti in October (different years) and found them uncrowded then.

St. John - Caneel Bay

Don't get sucked into the "Sandals" resorts, they are not as good as there advertising budget.

I second Providenciales (Provo) in the Turks and Caicos and Anguilla. Have been to both over a dozen times. Quiet, laid back not touristy--no cruise ships. Perfect place for a honeymoon. Grace Bay Beach is awesome and is consistently rated among the top three beaches in the Caribbean by readers of Caribbean Travel and Life and Conde Nast Traveler. Anguilla also has great beaches. Feel free to e-mail me for accomodation [email protected]

St.Barts. Caribbean but only by Geography---really much more like the S. of France. NO high rises, timeshares, tacky all inclusives, golf, casionos, poverty, litter or crime. Pristine tur-quwaze beaches or plages as the French refer to them ---absolute paradise. Nude/topless subathing without gawkers like US beaches. Great food. Since you can't land anything other than a 19 seat plane there it's never crowded. Look at Flamands beach--stbartsvilla.com

Provo, TCI is by far my #1 choice.

However, enjoy St.Thomas as well.

But for relaxation, beautiful beaches, good restaurants...Provo hands down.

Cal May 13th, 2003 07:22 PM

We vote for St. Thomas because you can find seclusion but still have access to the action when you're ready to have a little fun...Also, we like the mountains rolling into the sea, especially at Sapphire Beach.

TiffanyLynn,

Most definetly St. John. Depending on your budget Caneel Bay, The Westin & Gallows Point (all great, all high end. We've stayed at both Gallows & the Westin and both are great and their own unique advantages. We've also gone cheap and stayed at Cruz View villas(get one with a/c) it was very clean, had a good view, a good pool and convienent to town. If you choose St. John make sure buy the book "Off the Beaten Path" and read it. It will make all the difference in the world.

ANGUILLA definitely!!!!

caribcouple May 29th, 2003 03:03 AM

Anguilla is FLAT as a pancake, no views, but nice beaches...

Robert May 29th, 2003 06:31 AM

Go to Great Guana Cay off of Great Abaco Island, Bahamas. Stay at the Dolphin Beach, Guana Seaside Resort or Guana Beach Hotel. Five miles of deserted beaches and gin-colored waters. Robert

Lived & worked 9 years in the Caribbean (Aruba, St. Maarten, Tortola BVI and St. Croix USVI). My wife and I visited many islands on weekend and weeklong getaways. Our favourites are: Virgin Gorda BVI, Peter Island BVI, St. Barth's, Anguilla and St. John USVI.
