Thanks, Maggi. I had heard that smoking was more accepted because of the European influence, but wanted someone's first-hand experience. I'm sure we'll be able to make it work for us.

Where-to, in what hotel are you staying? I would definitely alert them to the problem in advance and perhaps they can advise you also on smoke-free restaurants.

We'll be staying at the Marriott. I didn't notice this before but they now have a notice on their web page that they have a smoke-free policy. So at least we'll be okay inside the restaurants and at the pool area.
