Passport Needed?
We are going to St John in May. Do we now need passports or will our birth certificates suffice?

If you are a US citizen, you will need proof of citizenship, i.e. a birth certificate, if you're going to St. John from St. Thomas (both part of the US).
Entry requirements for non-US citizens are the same as entering the United States. So you'll be fine with birth certificates and a picture ID. But it's always a good idea to get a passport. Makes life easier. cw |
Vinnie,
Everyone will need a passport from Dec 31 2006, so if you intend to travel out of the USA again in the future you might be best to get your passports now before the rush, you have plenty of time :-) |
St. John is part of the US Virgin Islands so no passport is needed now, nor will it under the new regulations.
See http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2225.html But, if you want to go over to the British Virgin Islands, i.e. out of the US, you will need a passport. cw |
:-D
Whoops, forgot that - and I really have no excuse, I'm researching a trip to St John! With my passport :-) I'm hoping to do some island hopping and spend a week in St Johns and then a week in Tortola. Too many islands, too little time! |
Thanks everyone!
