We stayed at Windjammer Landing several years ago and loved it!! Be prepared to walk up alot of steps but the villa views are breathtaking. We loved the island and tolled all around in a car, found people to be very friendly. My only disappointment was missing my luggage for 5 days!!

We have visited a number of beautiful islands, and this is the only island we do not like. It was very expensive for what we got out of it. If you are at all interested in getting into the sea or experiencing a nice beach, you won't get it there. And, if you lose your luggage, you will not be happy with the airport personnel. If you are looking for quaint, try looking into Curacao.

I am surprised about the discussions about poverty in St. Lucia. I guess some people hae never been to part of Mississippi, Missouri, W Virginia, Mexico, Jaimaica and etc.. yes there is poverty in the world and in the US ... I would comment that St Lucia is a beautiful island with lush scenery and very nice people ... the complaints on this board are ery interesting .. and the comment on Hawaii..tell that person to go to Hilo on the big island.. and they might be shocked

I have to agree with Trish. It is very expensive for what you get out of it. Taxis and restaurants in particular. The island is beautiful (except the beaches and the water, much of which reminds me of the Lake Michigan shoreline) but it just wasn't worth the money we ended up spending. The all-inclusive trip (our first of two to this island) was the better deal.

There's nothing wrong with being spoiled when you take a vacation.<BR><BR>That said, both Marys are right on the button. I also think that the beauty of the island more than compensates for the ghetto look and feel of much of the island. Bottomline: Make sure you know what you are getting before you go.

You are scaring me. I am getting ready to leave for my first cruise and am stopping in St. Lucia for half a day. Can anyone give me a good 1/2 day trip that won't break the bank?<BR>Thanks.

If that's all you got, I would take one of the boat trips down the west coast to the south and see the Pitons, do some snorkeling, etc. Or, I heard the Jeep rainforest excursion was really great.
