Hey guys!! I figured this would cause a firestorm. However, I've gotten quite a bit of useful information. If everybody would argue a little less and answer the question, it would be even more informative! Believe it or not, I'm thinking of Aruba because of the food, safety, water cleanliness. Americanization doesn't bother me, nor does a desert environment. However, I will continue to consider any and all posts, so keep 'em coming!!!!!!!!!

From what I read malley I sure am glad you aint going to Jamaica!
I'll be in Aruba on Monday--when I get back I'll let you know how it was. All I know is that it can't be worse than the desk I'm sitting at right now.

We have been reading lots of good things about St. Martin and are planning to go the first wekk in July. Also read a little about crime/pickpockets ....but will leave valuables at home and will only carry what it need for that day and put rest in a hotel safe. For the most part, lots of good info and great restaurants in St. Martin....try it.

Sorry for the spelling erros....should have proofread before posting.....oops
Mark: I was thinking the exact same thing. Thanks for putting it into words. Is XXXX a moron or what?
Well I guess XXX does not speak 5 languages otherwise he would have read the message I wrote to him in French. Maybe he's out having his tattoos recolored or filling his cooler with beer!!!
SandyFeet you are a bigger idiot than XXXX. Where does he/she say that they speak French? Are there only 5 languages in the world, French being one of them. I am impressed with your French!!! What book did you copy it from? Must have taken you 3 years to learn the sentence you wrote.
I figured that if he speaks 5 languages French is a basic language that is similar to Spanish and Italian. If someone is going be that insulting and moronic, and claim to speak 5 different languages, then I'm sure he would understand what was written. Sorry, DUH did not mean to insult you. Just Curious.....was not trying to impress you with anything.

SandyFeet: Puerto Rico is Brooklyn w/Palm Trees????? The only thing stupider than your statement is your username. That's right, Puerto Rico doesn't have a lush rainforest, cascading waterfalls, friendly people, beautiful beaches, or a unique Island culture. Sure, just like Brooklyn.
Have you been to Brooklyn?? Ever???
Sandy, could you please enlighten us with your wisdom and tell us which part of Puerto Rico you compare to Brooklyn? And by the way, are you related to Stephanie from the US board who keeps on yapping even though you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Mally, I am trying to decide where to go for an October Honeymoon. I like Aruba. I'm trying to decide b/w Aruba and BVI, Tortola. Avoid Jamaica and Cancun!!!
Avoid ALL Caribbean islands except St. Barts and Grand Cayman (throw in Bermuda, too, although I KNOW it's not technically in the Caribbean).
Go to National Review Online, Dave Kopel, "Jamaica Farewell". You'll never want to go to Jamaica after reading this amazing report.
I would avoid St. Martin, Jamaica, the Bahamas, St. Thomas altogether. Aruba, the Caymans, and Turks and Caicos would be my picks.
I would avoid the entire Caribbean. Definitely I would opt for Hawaii, Tahiti if at all possible.
Yah right Kevin!!

Do you honestly think your post has an ounce of validity being that you are surfing a caribbean board? Shouldn't you be lurking on the Hawaii board?
Certainly my response has plenty of validity, whether I am posting on the Alaska or Europe area, or any other area for that matter. It's the truth. If you had been both places, you would know.
Avoid Aruba, it is one of the most commercialized islands in the Caribbean and highly overated.
