Hey guys, i posted on here just over a year ago when i was going 2 travel to martinique alone, first time in the caribbean. Since then i've visited a load! and next week i'm moving there, got a teaching job in a school and very excited! Will probably post asking for more advice later on...

as for the islands i reached:

St lucia
Martinique
Dominica
St Vincent
Bequia
Barbados
Antigua
Sint Maarten/st martin
Anguilla
St Kitts
not bad eh!

tpatricco Jul 13th, 2006 10:41 AM

Part of our "problem" is that we keep going back to STJ over and over...

St. John
St. Thomas (only to gain access to STJ)
Grand Bahama
Bermuda
Jamaica
Grenada (cruise)
Bequia (cruise)
Mayreau (cruise)
St. Vincent (cruise)
Carriacou (cruise)
BVI's Tortola/Virgin Gorda/Jost Van Dyke (day trip)

So many destinations...so little time!

Knowing Jul 13th, 2006 02:03 PM

Let's see how easy this is to remember:

Hawaiian Islands several times
Jamaica
Bahama's
Antigua
St. Lucia
Curacao
Grand Cayman
USVI
Bermuda
Aruba
Nevis & St. Kitts

Did I get them all????

Upcoming trips:
February - Probably Anguilla
April - Tahiti

greenie Jul 13th, 2006 02:19 PM

Here's my list...

Freeport Bahamas
Provodenciales (Turks & Caicos)
Dominican Republic
Puerto Rico
Cozumel
Cancun (4)
Grand Cayman
BVI (Tortola)
Aruba
Barbados (4)
Jamaica (2)
Oahu
Coronado Island (San Diego...is it really an island??)
Manhattan! =)

...and hopefully many more!

Peace, Greenie

I hate to rain on JAGIRL's parade but your question does not focus on a "real" relevant question, in my opinion. Therefore, all I will say is 90% of those islands listed and areas as far as Fiji, Malaysia, South Pacific, etc.we have visited in 38 yrs. of travel.
A specific question that we may be able to focus on, if you have one would be great. I do not mean to be sarcastic, but this is a Forum to gather travelers info on specific areas of the Caribbean.

Carib_dreamn Jul 13th, 2006 03:16 PM

And I was having such fun....Thanks JAgirl!! Keep up the fun post...

JAGIRL Jul 14th, 2006 05:49 AM

stankase ((?))

The relevant question : How many Caribbean islands have you visited to date? 8}
No advice sought. I just wanted to know. It's supposed to be a fun thread. And not to worry you didn't rain on my parade. ((#))B-)

Looks like almost everybody here has been to the VI and the Bahamas. Funny enough I have never really wanted to visit either place. Now mayhap I ought to add those to my "to do" list :)

mahobaygirl Jul 14th, 2006 07:52 AM

JAGIRL-Thank You!!
This IS a fun post, look how many are participating!! We all help one another on this board and are very supportive of one another.
I also sense a "community" within the members of this board, so it is fun to have a thread like this! We all spend many hours a day thinking of the Caribbean, this is our outlet!
AND- for the people posting about what island they should go to-looking for "relevant" info-answers can be found here as some islands are popping up on almost everyone's list!

ONZGO Jul 14th, 2006 09:44 AM

((*))JAGIRL, please tell me how did you get the coloured letters in the word Caribbean in your original post??? Thanks. :)8-)

Now in alphabetical order:

Antigua (1x)
> would go back for sure

Aruba (2x)
> first time enjoyed, 2nd time we didn't due to Aruba becoming very commercialized :( and would go back only if we won a trip

Bahamas (very long time ago) (1x)
> would go back just to see what it is like now, but not high on our list

Cuba, Varadero & Havana (1x)
> would go back for sure

Dominica Republic, Punta Cana (1x)
> would go back for sure

Jamaica, Runaway Bay (1x)
> would go back for sure

Mexico, Cozumel Island (1x)
> would go back for sure

St. Lucia (1x)
> would go back for sure

St. Maarten/St.Martin (1x)
> would go back, but not high on our list

Although these Mexican destinations below are not islands, I thought I would post.

Cancun (3x)
> would go back, but not high on our list as it is very commercialized now :( and we would rather go further south of Cancun

Huatulco (1x)
> would go back for sure

Mayan Riviera, south of Playa del Carmen(3x)
> would go back and still our favourite so far

Overall Mexico still remains our favourite destination because it has so much to offer. The ocean and beaches are beautiful and the resorts are very good and there is so much to see and do there and it has lots of culture and history.8-)

We like to see new and different places. So many places, so little time and money. :( Wish I could win the lottery.:D

ONZGO Jul 14th, 2006 10:54 AM

JAGIRL, don't worry I have my answer on how to do the colours and bold and underline. Thanks.8-)

JAGIRL Jul 14th, 2006 01:03 PM

vegasm head on over to the other Forum here on Fodor's and you'll have your answer :) I think the thread is "Pardon me while I practice".

chasechow, I agree :)) I am thoroughly enjoying this thread! I lost count of who has the most Caribbean in their travels! :))

VegasM Jul 14th, 2006 02:03 PM

CARIBTRAVELER: Ziggy is nowhere as popular as Damian Marley whose 'Jamrock' took island by storm and inspired many other 'ghetto protest'
singers. Commercial dancehall/US hip-hop may monopolize the radio/club playlists (Sean-Paul, Rhihanna, etc.) but Luciano is one of the enduring favorites on island.

brenandg Jul 15th, 2006 11:25 AM

Here's my little list.

Jamaica x2
St Lucia x2
St John #2 coming this November, notice a pattern here?
BVI's Virgin Gorda, Marina Cay, Jost Van Dyke, day trips
Grenadines, Union, Palm, Mayreau, Tobago Cays, day trip.

The island fever hit bad after St Lucia in 2003 and I can't seem to stop going there now. What an affliction!

StanKase Jul 15th, 2006 05:36 PM

With all of the travelers visiting so many places I have a question: Who has stayed at Parrot CAYE in T&C? How were the accommodations, food (it is isolated so one has to count on their restaurants), courtesy of staff and snorkel and diving outings they offer? We are planning on putting down a deposit next month for March or we cannot get in. All relevant first-hand feedback in past 12-18 months would be welcomed!
Thanks.

caribtraveler Jul 15th, 2006 05:50 PM

Tivertonhouse: How interesting. I had NO idea, so thank you very much for that info.

Oh Dear !! I have a VERY short list.
1.Barbados
2.Margarita Island
3.Jamaica
I guess what kept it shorter was 3 trips to Costa Rica. I think this is indeed a fun idea, and it IS informative. I can see who is interested in the same islands as I am, and in future direct questions at them.

tewels Jul 19th, 2006 02:35 PM

This would have been a really interesting post if everyone would have told their top 3 favorite islands. Particularly those who have ten or more. So how about it?

But just passing by, I can say "wow"

BeachGirl247 Jul 19th, 2006 03:43 PM

Parrot Cay is very high on my list for upcoming trips -- especially since American Express just added it to their 2007 list of hotels/resorts to use your points!
