Weather she's a bit nutso or not is besides the point. I do believe she went to Sandals, had some mishaps and was very disappointed. If she really did pay the insane sum she quoted on her site then she was screwed plain and simple. If you don't research where you are going then don't complain about what you get. BTW her site is far from "professional" looking, it's a VERY simple basic old geocities/yahoo type site that anyone can use. I don't think it's a hoax.

I will do no such thing, Dr. Shrink, and neither should anyone else. No matter what her mental state she still has valid complaints against Sandals who royally screwed her over. Some complaints may be trivial but others are not.

The Bible says, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."<BR>The Beatles said, "The love you take is equal to the love you make."<BR>Somebody said, "You can catch more flies with honey than _?_."<BR><BR>Taking Lori's almost guaranteed bad attitude coupled with her outrageous claims -- the corkscrew, the "freezing" plunge pool (how could it be freezing - isn't it 900 degrees down there?), and many others -- I'm sure the staff thought she was totally off her rocker, even outdoing the ugliest "Ugly American". <BR><BR>Sorry it didn't work out for her, but it will NEVER work out for her unless she changes her whole attitude and outlook. <BR><BR><BR>

Ari you are indeed a wise man (even if you are a Greek). It seems that Lori is suffering from a persecution complex and the whole world is out to get her. Her complaints are so far fetched that no one with any common sense would buy into them. What to most people would be a VERY trivial inconvenience to her is a major earth shattering crisis. She goes to the tropics and then complains because things there upset her...well I would suggest that she just stay home where I am sure that everything is perfect (ha no way I bet every shop in her home town has Lori Alerts posted for the staff). I have known lots of Loris and they are all the same - the world exists to serve her and she must have everything go her way of it is the fault of the other person. I pity, yes PITY, the poor bloke that was stupid enough to marry her.

"Ugly American" with great big wallets is just exactly what this type resort is hoping to catch. That's the kind of people the need to get their dollars from. Sandals offers the kind of prepackaged glossy "we'll do everything for you (for a big price) package that "ugly americans" are looking for. So if they don't like their clientele, they need to change their marketing strategy.

I checked out the above mentioned web site, didn't have time nor the desire to look at it all, but from what I saw something just seemed "off" about it all. There is something that just doesn't jibe here. Why post your wedding stuff and then ask for other peoples bad experiences? There is something wrong and maybe one day when I don't have anything to do except watch the paint flake I'll get back to it and look at it all.

I think her website is legit. How can she fit in such a long-winded site with all the careers she has?<BR>Maybe her next career move is an author of fantasy literature. <BR>Lori is one of those people where it's all about me, me,me... enough about you already what about me?

Lori Aug 9th, 2002 12:02 PM

DeeDee,<BR>Give it a rest honey. Enough about you already, what about Me? Lori

I figured out what was wrong with the site...as a newlywed I had a lot better things to do than spend all that time working on a web site about my wedding/moon.

As a travel agent I will certainly book a Sandals's package if my clients are firmly set on going to a Sandal's resort, however I do give them several options first: there are some wonderful AI at half the price as Sandals and MUCH BETTER. I hate to stereotype, however I take the lead from my gay clients (you know, the double income, etc.)who are experienced travellers, not hesitant about paying for a great trip and recommend to me AIs in Mexico and the Carib. Of course, they are not alllowed to go to Sandals--even if they can, they probably would not go anyways!

I'm glad Buddy had the power to make a decision that Sandals is bad by reading a trip report with negative findings. I wish I had that kind of power, would save me lots of time.

<BR>I have a friend who worked for Sandals. He says Sandals is having one of its worst years since 1991. The chairman has said business is down 30%, even air travel on Air Jamaica.(of which he owns). Openings are being delayed (Dominican Rep) as is St. Lucia. Recent downturns in Sandals popularity and occupancy has caused for delays in openings and renovations. Travel bullentin boards have also come in to play. Negativity towards Sandals is at an all time high and personel associated with Sandals (employees, CSS, executives) are even REPLYING to the posts whenever a Sandals bashing starts! Am I the only one that could see this being true? Makes sense to me! The caribbean travel industry is a multi billion dollar conglomerate and when your business is considerably down I could see things like this hapening. I've never been a big fan of Sandals anyhow but interesting, huh?<BR>

I have been to Beaches Royal Plantation and it was a beautiful resort. Good food, stunning property, etc. I felt like I got my money's worth.<BR><BR>However when I visited the other resorts. Sandals Ocho Rios, Dunns River and Grande Sport, I would have probably had a hissy fit. The cost is the same(depending category) but the facilities were way below the cost of the resort. With the exception of Grande Sport because I think it is pretty cheap compared to the others.<BR><BR>Point being, I do not mind an average/less then perfect place if the price is right. But when you are paying thousands of dollars to go on vacation, I want top of line. I did not find the other Sandals(with the exception of BRP had that.<BR><BR>Just my opinion.
