Are there going to be kids included? If not, I recommend Royal Hideaway in Playa Del Carmen. It's adults only. They had a lovely wedding while I was there. Also, Point Grace on the island of Provo, Turks and Caicos. There was a wonderful wedding on the beach when I was there -- they made an "aisle" out of conch shells, had an arch full of flowers, it was beautiful.

Here's a suggestion:

Get married/have the ceremony at the Ritz in Rose Hall (Mo Bay) and have your family/friends stay at the near-by Wyndahm. The Wyndham is literally next door in the Rose Hall area.

We did this scenario last July. The Ritz Rose Hall is outstanding and can accomodate any size wedding. The wedding coordinator is wonderful and tends to every detail.

Our wedding was perfect and we didn't have to worry about guests having to pay a lot of money or spend a long time flying there. Three nights, air,and AI at the Wyndham was around $600pp from the east. Our rate at the Ritz was $300 a day AI for both of us. We had everyone book through our TA who used Air Jamaica vacations.

I highly recommend this. It was very easy to organize and we didn't feel like we were forcing people to go.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to answer them.

Hi Karolina,

I second the advice to go to an AI on the Mayan Riviera. A friend got married at the Riu Tequila and it was great. There were less expensive "Riu" hotels next door but the bride and groom stayed at the most upscale one.

My husband and I got married on St. Thomas but I found it a drag to organize dinner reservations for 16 people every night! An AI would have been much easier. I too hated the wedding planning/Martha Stewart-ish stuff so I think the destination wedding idea is great.

Alternatively, you could go to Isla Mujeres where there is a variety of lodging - so peaceful!

good luck.

Karolina - My husband and I were married this past August at Swept Away Negril. We were very pleased with the accommodations, service and special pampering we received. We were married on the beach....it was beautiful and romantic. We didn't have anyone with us which was what we wanted, but the staff and other guests were so sweet and kind, offering us all kinds of well wishes. Also, we purchased a photo package and were thrilled with our pictures. We have received so many compliments on them! You can't beat taking pictures in a beautiful tropical garden and on a Caribbean beach! Keep in mind the real reason for such a wonderful celebration....I'm sure you will be happy wherever you go. Good luck and enjoy!
