Moderate price and friendly. <BR>I personally know the folks at the Negril Yacht Club, thats at the begining of the west end, and has some of the best snokeling there. Prices are less expensive there also. Check out the message board at Beingees Internet, it is the best source of information on Negril. To those who argue that there is crime everywhere-get a clue! I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA because I don't want the crime & hassles of begging, scams, etc...associated w/the city. I don't vacation in Jamaica for the same reason. There are plenty of safer, more beautiful places in the world to visit- why risk it?! Anyway I hope lots of fools keep going there so they won't find the hidden gems of the Caribbean that don't have the problems burdening Jamaica.

I went to Jamaica for the first time in June of this year for my honeymoon. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort called Couples and loved it. We loved the resort and the country. Yes, there are poor people who live there. But what exactly do you expect to see when you go to a third world country? We were offered drugs maybe 5 times, but it was just in passing. We were never forced to buy or do anything. A simply NO is all these people need to hear. The same goes for shopping. If you do not choose to buy something, say NO. It is quite simple. I believe Jamaica is more than the negative things people are saying on this message board. Before I chose Jamaica for my honeymoon I researched this board and several others. We chose Jamaica not because of all the same negative messages, but because of the positive responses. It is a beautiful country with great culture. We are happy we chose Jamaica and we plan to go back again soon.

My husband and I went to Negril, Jamaica in Dec 97 and we enjoyed our stay there very much. We booked thru Apple Vacations and stayed at the <BR>T-Water Beach Hotel. By the way, we live in the <BR>D.C.area so air time wasn't too bad. However, <BR>at arrival at Sangster Airport, the wait time for <BR>the bus transfer to Negril did take a long time. <BR>T-Water Beach Hotel is a good budget hotel <BR>which includes breakfast and lunch in their rates. <BR>Its beachfront location is great- as is the entire <BR>Negril beach area! My husband and I enjoyed <BR>trying out different restaurants for dinner. At only <BR>one restaurant did we have to wait "forever" for <BR>the dinner check; the locals were very friendly <BR>and yes there were a few who tried to sell a <BR>"smoke" or some cheap souveniers, but a pleasant "NO" thank you is enough-- we never <BR>encountered any hostility or agressiveness. <BR>Their freindlliness is better described as exuberant, <BR>and they enjoy a good chat from you! As a matter <BR>of fact, one day my husband was walking back <BR>from an money exchange office when the heat <BR>took its toll on him-- a Jamaican local on a motor <BR>scooter stopped and gave him a ride to the hotel, <BR>and refused a monetary tip for his help! We also <BR>have been to Ocho Rios and the atmosphere is <BR>a little more of the persistant harrassment and <BR>slightly more agressiveness in their approach, but <BR>again, a polite, firm, "No, thank you." is usually <BR>enough. I suspect the problems are more <BR>pronounced in the larger cities- Ocho Rios, <BR>Montego Bay, and Kingston; and in Negril and <BR>the Southern coastal areas are a lot more <BR>enjoyable and positive experience of Jamaica. <BR>We would definitely go back to Jamaica, but <BR>only to Negril and the southern coast-- it is too <BR>beautiful a country to pass up!
