Unfortunately, we lost one of the two pictured a little over a year ago. Had to have him put to sleep and it was a moment I had been dreading since we got them 11 years prior. Fortunately the method was almost instant and painless; his remains are with us at home.

We had read that PWDs "like to be with their owners" and boy, do they ever! They are also very willful when they choose to be and seem to do things on their own terms. We tell people that our doggie allows us to occupy his space (i.e., the house).

They were both spoiled from the beginning and have been given as much love as is possible...wouldn't have it any other way.

They kiss nicely, too!

It is hard to lose them isn't it? They give such joy and delight as companions, letting them go is hard.

They are such an athletic breed, I can imagine willful is an understatement!

I'm sure I would consider getting another one although as with many purebreds there are some issues.

It will be a hard choice when our remaining child passes away

I think it's one of the hardest things in the world to do.
My oldest one is getting old and it scares me. She's going deaf, has cateracts and now seems to wander restlessly around the room in the evening, staring into space.

It's hard to imagine life without her.

Kodi, just to let you know (and not prolong a difficult subject)...whe we had ours put to sleep the process took less than 20 seconds...they literally go to sleep instantly.

When we are forced to do it again we will consider having the vet do it here at the house which is becoming possible.

Thanks Dukey, it's so reassuring to know the actual deed is so painless for them. It's not seeing her loving little face every day that will be so difficult. And the greeting at the door when I get home.... and so much more..

Goddess is exaggerating! It's barely 7,000 feet or 117 cm according to the weather guy this morning....well behind the over 200 cm Quebec City has so far.

But it feels like 300 cm when you try to find a place to throw it to keep the sidewalk clear!

That's the problem -- there's just no place to put it anymore. On CBC this morning they said we'd now had three times the average amount of snow for February...and we're only halfway through the month!

I'll be there!!! Looking forward to it.. I'll dig my way there!

OK then, I think we're still six with my guy. Excellent.

Great news..yes, I'm still coming up (my plane arrives Friday afternoon...let's hope it DOES actually land!!!) and I have enuf T shirts for 8.

I wish to assure all of you that having grown up in Wyoming where I have personally seen a thermometer registering 53 degrees F below zero, this snow and cold is nothing new but yes, who (in their right mind) really wants it after about two weeks.

I live in a neighbourhood where many of the driveways (if you have one at all) are very narrow so people tend to park on the street. The parking police are pretty easy-going and only rarely give out tickets. But the city must be hurting for parking infraction bucks because this morning every single car on the street around the corner from us had a ticket.

The funny thing was that many of those cars had obviously been stuck in snowmounds since the beginning of the snowfalls. They had frozen drifts in front and back and at the street side of them, and they were just white humps with about 20cm of snow covering them completely. The cop had no place to put the ticket so each car had a little space cleared off at the driver's side door handle and the ticket was stuck in the crack of the door. We drove by a lot of frustrated, angry-looking people standing there with the yellow ticket in their hands, snow-covered cars, and looks that could kill!

And Happy Valentine's Day to you, Toronto.
