Great restaurants on Vancouver Island
Any suggestions for great restaurants on Vancouver Island.
We will be in Sooke, Victoria, Shwanigan Lake, Ucluelet & Tofino. ps we will also be on Orcas Island. Thanks! |
In Victoria consider, Camille's, Cafe Brio, Il Terrazzo, Blue Crab Bar & Grill, and L'ecole Brasserie
In Tofino, think about the Point Restaurant at the Wickaninish Inn and a little more casual, the Rain Forest Cafe, Near Shawnigan Lake think about Steeples. In Sooke, consider Sooke Harbour House. Most require reservations especially on weekends. Happy Dining, Binners |
Binners,
Thanks for all the recommendations!! We have already made reservations for Steeples and Sooke Harbour House....happy that you suggested both of them!! |
We live in Sooke and agree with the suggestion about Sooke Harbour House; also in the area we would strongly recommend Markus' Wharfside Restaurant. It's fine dining, a little different from Sooke Harbour House but equally good in our opinion.
A little further west, maybe about a 20-minute drive along West Coast Road, you might enjoy Point No Point - gorgeous ocean views and wonderful food. |
My favorites, in no particular order:
Victoria: Cafe Brio, Brasserie L'Ecole Tofino: Raincoast Cafe, SOBE Orcas: Christina's, Inn at Ship Bay and for lunch, Olga Cafe. |
Yeah!!
Thanks for all the great suggestions!! Meesthara, Sooke looks wonderful...we are very excited about our stay in your area. We are renting a suite at Eagle Cove. http://www.eaglecove.ca/ |
I have commented negatively about the Wickaninnish Inn, and the dining room looms large as a reason.

Bailey, I think you'll love Sooke! We've driven past Eagle Cove numerous times; it's not all that far from Point No Point. You might want to have a look at Point No Point's website as well - they have lovely cabins as well as a great restaurant, although I see that you've already booked your accommodations.
If you have a chance, check out the Tugwell Creek Honey Farm. It's not far from where you're staying. They sell several kinds of honey as well as mead, a dessert wine made from honey. You can watch the bees at work from a safe vantage point too, if that interests you. |
In Victoria:
Bengal Lounge @ The Empress great curry buffet Sanuk: Asian Fusion @ Magnolia Hotel:excellent Bon Rouge: newer french restaurant w/ fab decor and fine food Moxie's good food moderate prices Ferris' for well prepared seafood and oysters near Shawnigan : The Aerie AndrewDavid |
SOBE in Tofino is an excellent choice as NWWanderer has pointed out. I don't understand why more people don't mention it in a discussion about Tofino.
