Canada supporting US in war on terrorism.

It was announced today that Canada is now prepared to help the United
States in its war against terrorism.

They have promised to commit:

* 2 of their largest battleships
* 6,000 armed troops
and
* 60 fighter jets.

However......after the exchange rate, that comes down to:

* a canoe
* 2 Mounties
and
* a flying squirrel.
Thank you ET! Hope you're not working in a bank :)

The way I heard it, the Canadian Army planned to loan us their tanks - both of them.

JackLanghorne Mar 19th, 2003 01:50 PM

Assuming this is a serious posting, Prime Minister Chretien has supported the war on terror since day 1.

dwooddon Mar 19th, 2003 02:01 PM

Jack - What on earth made you think this was a serious posting?

Scarlett Mar 19th, 2003 02:03 PM

Most likely it was the mention of Bullwinkel:)

Sherry Mar 19th, 2003 02:37 PM

LMAO and not just at the original post either!

icithecat Mar 19th, 2003 08:36 PM

Never underestimate the power of a flying squirrel.

The last one we unleased on the US had millions mesmerised on their couches.

If we sent out one over Iraq, it could destabilise their entire army ( which have never seen anything remotely funny on their TVs).

Now if we added a moose, Turkey would not even notice if US troops were there.

Lola Mar 20th, 2003 05:31 AM

Natasha and Boris could come in and "make them talk" once we have prisoners!

George Mar 20th, 2003 05:49 AM

Perhaps I was mistaken in thinking that the forum existed to share thoughts and information on travel-related topics not politics and the lack of support of US policies by Canada's PM.

Lola Mar 20th, 2003 07:39 AM

No-this forum exists for entertainment purposes only. If we can not BE traveling, we can entertain ourselves by talking about travel. Or squirrels and moose .
With things happening in this world that are very 'heavy' and 'serious', we all need a chance to 'lighten' up:)
