Where to tay in Apt in Melbourne
Will be in Australia for ~6 weeks for the first time this February. Want to rent an apt in Melbourne for 4-5 days. What areas should we be looking at? Prefer if possible to be somewhere where we can walk to sightsee and dinner. Thanks!

that would be "Where to Stay" - sorry for the typo!

Hi yestravel,
I think the suggestions you had on TA are good. I lived in Elwood for a year & loved it. |
Thanks! Good help over there.

Did you want to be in the city of the surrounding area?

The city

Anywhere within a short tram or train ride from the city centre. Apart from the city itself consider Carlton, Fitzroy, Prahran, Richmond, South Melbourne, South Yarra. All these are within a few kilometres of the CBD.

I've stayed twice at City Tempo at 353 Queen Street (at Abeckett St.). The apartments were compact, but comfortable. Each time, I stayed in a studio with a balcony. It was a couple of blocks from Queen Victoria Market, a block from the tram stop and an easy walk to Chinatown, the Melbourne Museum in Carlton Gardens, and Federation Square. It's close to heaps of shops and restaurants, and about 4 to 5 blocks from QV Mall which has a Woolworth's Supermarket and a large Dan Murphy's wine store. It was also a couple of blocks from several rental car offices, which came in handy for a day-trip to Yarra Valley.
I also considered staying at Pegasus Apartments, which is down the block, and Oaks on Williams, which is also closeby. In the end, City Tempo, was a little cheaper. |
Thanks- got an apt now.
