Taupo motels in October
Looking for accommodation for my wife and I + 24 year old daughter for three nights (two bedrooms required). Less concerned about price than finding a decent place to stay.
Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks. |
We stayed at Oreti Village a couple of years back, in October.
It's a bit isolated, on the west side of Lake Taupo, but stunning, and very comfortable. We hated having to move on after 3 days. http://www.oretivillage.co.nz/mainpage.htm I note that various hotel booking sites, such as wotif.com also are listing it now - so have a look for a good price. |
Chas, if money is not a concern then the Huka Lodge is THE place to stay www.hukalodge.co.nz/.
We are looking forward to one night there - eventually - without the children ! |
Heathy,
My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to Australia and NZ, and we are considering a few nights at the Huka Lodge. Is it worth the money? Also, with only 9 days in NZ, would you recommend staying in Taupo over other destinations? Thanks! |
Beckers, it depends on what you want to see and do. Most people recommend the South Island if you have a short amount of time.
We spent 10 days on the North Island in April 2004 - we won the trip and had to fly in and out of Auckland, so it made sense for us. You can pictures and a trip report at http://community.webshots.com/user/ElendilPickle Lee Ann |
