Great news! Photos!?? When are you heading this way again!!! |
Good news Andrew. All the best to you both for the future ! Can you tango now?
|
Andrew, you have many talents, but somehow I can't see you doing a reprise of Peter Allen, complete with mariachas or whatever those bloody things are called (don't ask me, I hate Latin American music). Despite that, heartiest congratulations and Robyn and I hope to see you in this neck of the woods one of these days.

Hi AndrewDavid!
Good to see you popping up on the board again, and congratulations on your nuptials! Never mind those Aussie's, when are you coming to the Bay Area so we can get together for cocktails and comparing stories!? Regards, Melodie |
Hi Andrew
Congratulations! Thought of you just the other day when the Bruce Highway around Townsville and Tully was yet again cut by flood waters. Hope to see you back here someday! Cheers Pat and Mike |
Congratulations, AD and Tim! We also are thinking of Argentina for 2009 because of the US Dollar so I will check out your trip report. Any singing dogs in Argentina??
Sally in Seattle |
hi all thanks for ur best wishes,
Sally no singing dogs although lots of well feed strays. none of the aussies we met had heard of the talented dinky and hardly anyone believed us like some well known sceptics on this site Neil can u post the link to the ABC clip w/ audio of Dinky singing Margo, no definite return date yets but hopefully sooner rather than later. Poor Tim only gets 4 weeks off and has singing dates for one of those weeks and I won't come for less than a month. so it will take some sweet talking of his boss Peteralan is Neil referring to me reprising u or that other Peter Allen. Bought lots of tango cds and saw plenty of dancers. we r practicing in the privacy of our home! Melodie I will b in Oakland the 23rd 24th 25 Feb r u up that way Pat and Mike I am busy w/ my immigration papers and an ozzie from Airlie Beach and I show up in those places together ( yesterday we were fingerprinted together at the cop shop). He too has not so fond memories of the Tully River crossing, but fonder of the Euramo Hotel Sally always glad to talk about fabulous argentina. if u send me ( [email protected]) ur phone # in seattle I can call u w/ my free phone and tell u all about it and will continue my postings on Latin America forum Neil, Hope u and Robyn and the kids r well. hard to drive up Douglas past the notoriouys Red Lion and not think of u! cheers to all Andrew |
And by popular request, for Andrew, and also all those unbelievers out there ... Dinky, the Amazing Singing Dingo of Stuart's Well!!

Congratulations, Andrew! It's good to see you here.
Lee Ann |
Oh Andrew, I'm sure Neil is referring to the other one. Its years since I played with a "mariacha"!
|
Yes, I was talking about that more obscure performer who was Judy Garland's son-in-law.
|
well i knew which peter allen he was referring to! now have better uses for mariacha haha or a should now say hehe which is canadaspeak
neil thanks for link sent it off to some disbelieving fellow citizens of urs cheers andrew |
well lee ann, nice to b here. how is life in nm. never did hear who won the democratic primary
cheers andrew |
Hello Andrew, as usual I pop onto the Australian Board about once a week. How nice to see your post.
Congratulations to you and Tim. And a honeymoon in Argentina..beautiful! I will pop over to the Latin American Board in the next day or so when I have time to catch up on your adventure. I hope we can meet up again some day when you are in the SF/Bay Area. I so enjoyed my luncheon and the walk with you. Best wishes to you and Tim. |
It took about nine days, but Hillary was finally declared the winner.
Mr. Pickle and I almost always work as election officials in the primary and general elections, but I've never seen anything so poorly managed as the Democratic caucuses here. Rio Rancho only had one polling place for the whole city! New Mexico is lovely as always - I owe you an email update. :-) Lee Ann |
well lee ann the last time i voted in the caucases it was so disorganized i was actually able to vote twice!
cheers andrew |
Ah, yes, that's New Mexico - vote early, vote often! :-D
Lee Ann |
Dear Nancy, thanks for ur good wishes. unfortunately just passing through enroute to carmel valley to see my parents. perhaps w/ mmore time u and melodie and i could meet up
cheers andrew |
Ah, Carmel - where a lazy million will buy you a freshly painted outhouse with views to the next tree, and the houses aren't numbered, because if you don't know how to find whoever you're visiting you obviously have no business there. (Insights thanks to Melodie, Unpaid Tour Guide Extraordinaire.)
Wasn't the Carmel Valley the scene of the great frog hunt in "Cannery Row"? |
now neil, my parents house is 15270. we just didn't tel YOU the #.
houses r numbered the mail just isn't delivered! cheers A/D |
Andrew, I never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
(I thought your folks lived in Santa Barbara, so didn't expect to be caught out.) "we just didn't tel YOU the #." - A very wise precaution, too. |
LOL Neil, you have to watch out for our AndrewDavid!
Andrew, that sounds like a plan. I don't know if you still have my email..I will email you this weekend so that you will have it for sure and whenever it works out I will look forward to seeing you. |
no its oprah winfrey who lives in santa barbara; not my poor folks. fyi carmel valley is 20 km inland from carmel and blessedly beyond the fog and crowds. i am actually heading down there on tuesday and looking forward to seeing the dinosaurs.
cheers Andrew |
Andrew what happened to Victoria where I hoped to meet you one day? I used to write under name michi but they won't let me in any more since my visits to Fodors have been so infrequent.
It took me some time to recover from the chili peppers you sent and I passed it on to my daughter-in-law (she's from the Punjab) for whom nothing is too hot. We've been holidaying in Portugal and Spain in the past few years but I'm thinking of a trip to New Zealand maybe next year. Best wishes for a good life. |
hi michi, nice 2 hear from u. iam happily settled in victoria. I have been living here since October 2005. I built a house near gonzales beach and ross bay cemetary in fairfield. my husband tim is canadian , born and raised in Duncan and we r just about to file sponsorship papers for my landed immigrant status.
I really enjoy living in victoria and have made a nice circle of friends. we would b glad 2 see u out here. i had a visit from neil and robyn cammack summmer before last which was great fun. although why neil chose to book in one of the local hooker hotels is beyond me.... is ur son still practicing architecture in the yukon was it. cheers AndrewDavid ps highly recommend argentina for a warm winter vacation and its just below u! |

"...although why neil chose to book in one of the local hooker hotels is beyond me...." perhaps Neil wanted the total Canuck experience! |
"i had a visit from neil and robyn cammack..."
Now you've gone and outed me, Andrew Beckerman! And I'm in the phone book at that! All future hate mail from Fodors right-wing crazies will be forwarded to Victoria BC. That aside, for some reason the Red Lion's website failed to make it clear that it was a hot-sheet operation. But it didn't matter. We wanted to get up close with the urban proletariat of North America during our trip. We couldn't spend all our time hanging around plutocratic neighbourhoods like Fairfield. |
But jokes aside, Andrew is the kindest and most generous of hosts. And the Red Lion wasn't so bad. We didn't have to turn too many hookers away from our door.
|
Margo , Neil, et al, well we do try to provide tours and experiences for all tastes and pocketbooks and now we can provide in home accomodations and hopefully keep u ozzies away from the red lion ( but only if desired)
u know the canucks were disappointed to learn that the weren't the biggest swillers in the commomwealth so the party we gave for neil and robyn did deteriorate into a drinkfest competition; not a pretty picture.... AndrewDavid |
