surfmom-enjoyed reading your trip report. So it was calmer on this trip then in the BVI? We were on canal boats and a boat to Burano 1 day this summer to escape the heat in Venice. For 3 days later I felt like I was rocking at times.
What was it about Bora Bora region that you enjoyed better than BVI?

I missed this earlier but enjoyed your report. We were in French Polynesia (Bora Bora and Mo'orea) about a month before you. We stayed at the St. Regis and biked by the "Royal Estate" a number of times and wondered what it was like inside! We didn't have the option of a shower room on our departure day, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing!

deladeb good question... the water was absolutely calmer than the BVI's - I think because there are the motus around each island it takes the brunt of the waves and the tide. I totally get how you felt with the rocking - I felt that was for about 10 days after the BVI's and not at all after Bora Bora.

What did I like better? Other than the lack of tide and waves.... probably the clarity of the water. The snorkeling was out of this world. It also felt less crowded ... there are more large resorts on Bora Bora, but was less people on catamarans. In the BVI's , it is so deep, we got a mooring ball most of the time. (and we were there when it wasn't crowded and there were times most of the mooring balls were taken). In Bora Bora, it was so shallow, we just anchored all the time. If we didn't like the spot - too windy - or something, then we just anchored somewhere else.

ms_go so funny! We loved the St. Regis!
