jacketwatch -- thanks for the recommendation. I have noted it. I think we have trouble getting all the food in that we want to try during our short stay.

Guenmai - good to know you have not had trouble with taxis. thank you

Geordie -I like taxi apps. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention.

Glad that you're having a nice stay at the Four Seasons-Kuala Lumpur. Maybe they've worked out the kinks since I stayed there in January 2019. I brought to their attention some of the kinks that I thought needed to get worked out to bring it up to what I've found in other Four Seasons Hotels as that's my #1 high-end hotel chain around the world. The location of the Four Seasons-Kuala Lumpur is very good and their private car transportation to the airport was excellent.

Happy Travels!

It’s been open now a bit over a year Nov 2018,, so i’d say they may have all the kinks worked out. Dont stay in lots of Four Sewsons, but this one seems comparable to the ones I have stayed in over the years. I like the location, but can’t really compare it to staying in other areas as we’re here such a short time.
i will say KL has a great energy and the architecture is fun to look at.i imagine it was very different not that long ago.

That's an interesting view. My room overlooked the front of the hotel and park area. I only had a standard room. As for the hotel opening, I remember that it opened in 2018. It was still quite new when I got there and there were some construction floor flaws and some other situations as my Malaysian friends and I noticed. Plus, service was spotty.

My Malaysian friends had picked me up at the airport and then came with me to the hotel for me to check in and drop my stuff off in my room and then off we went to the suburbs where they live and where we spent the whole day. Later that night, they drove me back to KL and dropped me back at the hotel.

Happy Travels!

" Havent spotted any flaws yet" if you do make sure to mention them,

Guenmai’s experience reminded me of when we stayed at the newly opened Four Seasons in Sharm el Sheik. It was a case of problem after problem. Room, service, public areas you name it the only thing that worked well was when we went out diving on the hotels own boat which was simply amazing.

When I got back to London I fired of an email to their HQ in Canada listing 20 or so issues that had occurred, expecting no more than an apology.a couple of weeks later, I got a call from the CEO thanking me for such a detailed synopsis of our stay, an apology and a long weekend stay anywhere we wanted. We chose the George Cinq in Paris and were treated like royalty. A beautiful suite, VIP cocktail party, incredible flowers in the room (changed every day).

An added bonus was that we were there at the same time as Bruce Springsteen and the E street band ( I am a lifelong fan) and got to share an elevator with the late, great Clarens Clemens and chatted with Steve Van Zandt. Saw Bruce but didn’t get to meet him. However when there were problems on our floor and were locked out, we passed the 10 mins waiting for the staff chatting with Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff who were in the same predicament. On eof those trips I shall never forget!

fabulous! Now I’ll be hoping to spot a flaw or 2! The concierge did put the wrong address for Grab taxi. He was taking us someplace else based on the address put in by the hotel. 😏

Yestravel thank you for those great pics.

Mr. C you encountered a CEO who knows how to deal with clients. That’s how you encourage repeat business.

And what a special time you had! Those memories will last a lifetime.

crellston Mar 9th, 2020 11:25 PM

Yes, JW, great memories and the George Cinq is still arguably the "best" hotel in which we have stayed. It was certainly a masterclass in how to deal with a complaint. When I was working nu job involved meeting many CEOs of large corporations and I got to know many quite well. The vast majority were impressive individuals, but clearly few would have direct contact with end users. The most impressive were those that occasionally did take the time to get out and spend a little time at "the coal face" to see what was going on in their businesses. This FS guy was definitely one of those.

The lesson I took away from that incident was, that in the unfortunate event of having to make a complaint, be firm, polite and constructive. Had I not set out exactly what the problems were, I doubt I would have got the same response.

Very true! If your correspondence comes off like an unhinged rant chances are few will listen.

"Unhinged rant" OK , I’ll admit to a few of those in hotel receptions at times ;)

:D. I just had one at IGI last mont and this wasn't the first time. ;) Two soldiers would not let me go back in to get Sue after I exited to find our driver. Bear in mind we had completed customs and immigration, gotten our bags. In Chicago ORD once you have completed the C/I and are waiting for your ride you can exit the vestibule and go back in as often as you like. The driver translated for me but all they said was "no" Finally a third soldier came by and sauntered in with me to get Sue who by this time was quite worried. They never once addressed my predicament.

No common sense.
