Mango... still wondering what your travel dates are. Will you be in BKK for the holidays? I'll be there from Dec 17 (late) until Jan 4.

DonTopaz Nov 12th, 2009 07:02 AM

Karen & Bob: please be gentle with Les Pandas when you break the news to them that they do not score extra points with the Buddha by traveling on the Merit [sic] Parkway.

Gpanda Nov 12th, 2009 07:24 AM

No need for extra points. The pandas will rely on fair accumulation as warranted. For example, I don't see anyone else on this forum volunteering to guide Bob around Asia. Think of all the general managers I have to placate after he's "inteacted" with them.

One more day and we're gone.

DonTopaz Nov 12th, 2009 08:02 AM

I'm not certain, but I think "placate" means "sue"

DonTopaz Nov 12th, 2009 01:00 PM

Bad joss. Hurricane Ikea or something. All hope lost.

Mango7 Nov 12th, 2009 03:47 PM

Carol- Will arrive Dec 15 and leave on the 30th. Short time!

Gpanda Nov 12th, 2009 04:29 PM

One more day to wait. About 14 hours. The excitement is building. The Marriott staff is hiding. Speedos are packed, I'm good to go. this time I'm only taking a medium suitcase. Trying to avoid the Air Asia weight surcharge. Do you think they would notice if Iwas wearing four shirts and four pairs of pants at check in. Thinl Michelin Panda.

rhkkmk Nov 12th, 2009 07:08 PM

he is pathetic trully pathetic...

he also has the flu....great....now we will all get it

filmwill Nov 12th, 2009 07:18 PM

...and he'll give it to all 250 other passengers on your flight over. I say you tip off the airport police in Germany or Singapore and let him know he's infected. Maybe Singapore. He could use a good caning for all those anti-North Carolina comments.

Hanuman Nov 12th, 2009 09:02 PM

err... what type of flu does the panda have? H1N1, H5N1, H1N2......??? Do we need a thermal scanner outside the restaurant for our GTG?

Gpanda Nov 13th, 2009 02:01 AM

I'm better this morning. I may wear a mask on the drive and the flight. After I give it to Bob.

DonTopaz Nov 13th, 2009 02:34 AM

I dunno about Thailand and Singapore, but some Asian countries (China and Japan, for certain) have set up thermal monitoring systems for debarking passengers to check for flu. Supposedly, these things can detect people who have a fever, and these people are pulled aside for further testing. If they do in fact have fever, they will be quarantined for some # of days.

Although this might seem as a welcome development by some members of the traveling party, it's not a bad idea to take a couple of aspirin (or your favorite fever reducer) about 60-90 minutes before arrival.

Hanuman Nov 13th, 2009 02:49 AM

I have alerted the Thai health department and they will have anal thermometer ready - panda size!

tengohambre Nov 13th, 2009 03:39 AM

We all all have the visual right now:

Sometime tomorrow Bob, Andy and company depart the plane. The ready and waiting thermal scanner does its job and -- Andy is pulled to the side. A series of questions ensue about his health, his temperature and his traveling companions. Andy points to the others and says, "I'm with them, we are all traveling together."

Response from Bob: "I don't know this man, he was blabbering he knew everyone on the plane for hours. He might be delirious. And, I've got a connection to catch. Please take care of him."

Andy is taken to the Panda Reserve screaming, "I don't have the flu, I don't have the flu!"

Gpanda Nov 13th, 2009 03:58 AM

Sorry to disappoint, my temperature was 98.7. Well within the norm. If things get really bad, I've got a plan to take an ice bath in the toilet. How's that for a visual.

tengohambre Nov 13th, 2009 04:02 AM

Panda's run at about 92 or so. You are febrile and delirious.

This is gonna be one long plane ride . . . .

DonTopaz Nov 13th, 2009 04:10 AM

So the nurse asks, "Doctor, where should I put these rectal thermometers?"

Gpanda Nov 13th, 2009 04:15 AM

Remember pandas at half speed are still the quickest animals on the veldt. Just imagine herds of pandas loping gracefully across the open plain. My actual strategy is to hide behind Bob for the thermal testing. Republicans are always cold.

bookchick Nov 13th, 2009 02:22 PM

OMG, this thread is hysterical! Did you know Panda posted on the European forum to inquire about facilities at the Frankfort Airport where he could take a shower? Seriously, he did! All the visuals on this thread have been stunning. I also enjoyed the fact that Panda wanted to watch the Panda TV channel in the pool. Apparently he's not certain how electricity works and this move would result in electrocution! Carol, don't you qualify for citizenship by now based on all the time in BKK you've spent this year?

BC

simpsonc510 Nov 13th, 2009 06:53 PM

BC...
Citizenship sounds good to me! Do you think it will be offered to me upon my arrival at BKK in December ? That will be trip #5 just this year.

The visuals on this thread are indeed entertaining. Hope the pandas and bobness have a great time on their journey.
