I have been to India a couple of times, and all I can say about India is that it never fails to amaze me, It has a vast culture and religion, and where faces are filled with smiley faces. I visited Darjeeling, the place known for its beautiful nature and tea. The feeling was entirely different. I would recommend that one should visit India, at least once in their life.

I think if you stay in the main areas of India like Delhi and the tourist attractions, then it should ok to go. Don't go wondering off into rural india.

I just started following this thread after you posted on mine ... wished I seen it earlier.
I did my first 3 week trip to India with a tour, fast paced I guess but I experienced so much fell in love with India. Actually my favourite memories were of Varanasi ... so intense and yet sunrise on the Ganges so peaceful. It was not a tour group that goes there regularily Senior Adventure Tours based in Canada but changes itineraries every year.
I feel much the same as you about traveling solo ... pros and cons are at constant battle ... I too wish to travel Southern India ... but finding a compatable travel companion who is not someone you already live with can become a nightmare. Its happened to me .... it's possible though that not sharing a room so you can have your own space would solve the issues that occured.
Sharing the cost of car and driver would be a real advantage and sounds like a win win.
Because of the floods I postponed S. India and signed up for a 2 week Exodus tour of SriLanka mid January. They were recommended and are UK based I think. When I signed up I was the only Canadian. 16 max. I havent checked but perhaps they do India?
Waiting to read what you do and decide about S. India.
I wont be at the Valencia GTG but will be in Nerja Spain, near Malaga, Feb to mid April if you (or anyone else) travels that way.

Hi MsLizzy,

I'd be very keen to hear about your Sri Lanka tour with Exodus; they do several tours to India I think.

Shame you aren't going to Valencia; and I'm sorry I don't see me getting to Malaga either. Hope you have a great time there and in Sri Lanka!

I know Ill be in the same country for the GTG but it quite a journey and I was just in Valencia 2 years ago enroute to Barcelona.
Im making a brief side trip to Madrid late March after the GTG dates and maybe Marrakech/desert before that if I can swing it from Nerja.
Safe travels!

I will be in Madrid from 20-23 March if that's any good?
