Kathie Nov 6th, 2004 07:57 PM

Thanks, Bob and Mr.W, I am headed to KL, Lombok and Singapore for a three weeks. I fly on Thursday (11/11). I'll post reports here as I have time and internet access on my trip and a full report on my return.

Have a Great time! I like KL, it's getting better and better all the time ( some decent nightlife now too!! )

Kathie--
Have a great trip. I'll be very curious to hear about Lombok. I was there in 1988 or 89 when there was only one hotel.

Are you flying Malaysia Air?

Kathie Nov 7th, 2004 06:26 AM

Gloria, my trans-Pacific flights are on United (I'm a very frequent flier, use my miles for Business class upgrades) and my flights within Asia are Singapore Air and Silk Air (a subsidiary of Singapore Air).

mrwunrfl Nov 7th, 2004 06:32 AM

Kathie, I hope you know about the double-EQM offer at United.

Kathie Nov 7th, 2004 07:05 AM

Yes, I do, thanks, MrW. That's such a great deal!

Gpanda Nov 7th, 2004 03:40 PM

Two questions-First, please explain the double EQM-offer. We're flying United in two weeks.

Second, Kathie, do the Towersd provide terminals for the previously mentioned free internet access or, do I have to bring my laptop?

Thanks.

rhkkmk Nov 7th, 2004 04:22 PM

in the towers rooms there are keyboards built right into the picture windows so when you are looking out at the long tail boats you can be multi-tasking....

mrwunrfl Nov 7th, 2004 04:28 PM

Pay $150 and get double elite qualifying miles on all United, United Express, and Ted flights through Dec 15.

Go here:
http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,1249,00.html

and click on the link:
"NEW! Elite Status Offer"

You should also check here for other miles promotions:

Kathie Nov 7th, 2004 04:36 PM

Gpanda, in the Towers lounge there are terminals with free internet access. So your multi-tasking can be with (free) drinks and canapes!

MrW knows his United deals! Gpanda, even if this was your only United flight this year, you could assure yourself of Premier status for next year.

Kathie et al.-Thanks for the prompt responses. Fodrites rock (Don't worry Bob, this may not include you. It does include Karen).

Kathie-back to the original intent of the post. Have a great time in Asia. We think of you as an intrepid advance scout. I'm sure you'll let us know of all the wonderful and not so wonderful experiences.

cytrav2000 Nov 9th, 2004 09:35 AM

I wish you a very good trip to SEA too.
I'm anxious to read your report since I haven't decided yet whether to go to Jakarta, Lombok and Bali or to go to Yangon, Bagan and Krabi, next August. I ve already been in Bali and Yogia three years ago.

johanna Nov 9th, 2004 05:58 PM

Kathie: Have a great trip. Will be anxious to hear a bout KL. We are leaving on Dec 30th and using your recommendations. Will also go to Singapore and Thailand. Johanna

Kathie Nov 11th, 2004 07:20 AM

A warm thank you to all of you for your good wishes. I'm headed to the airport soon for that long flight across the Pacific. I'll look forward to reporting back on my experiences here on the Fodor's board.
