Tawan Dang 11/25 GTG
 

Several of us are planning to have dinner at Tawan Dang on November 25 at about 7PM. I'll make a reservation when I know how many will be there. Who all is coming?

not good for me, but sometime in the first two weeks in dec would be perfect. maybe another one??

I'll be in town until the 6th. I normally go there fairly often anyway. Maybe we could try to set a date when Eurotraveller can make it?

Brad-count 2 for Andy and Beth. With any luck, we'll be able to ditch Bob and sneak Karen along with us.

I should be back from Dubai by then. Which Tawan Dang would that be?

we will not come for dinner, but would like to come a bit later for some beer and GTG fun, if we can ditch andy---we would bring beth of course as she has been trying to ditch him for years....would that be ok?? a date change could work for us too as we will be there until the 5th....

I will plan to be there, Brad, since I was the one that originally suggested Tawandang! Hate to plan a party and then not show! :-)

I am somewhat flexible on the date so if another date works well for others I I can go from the 25th-29th.

I want to confirm that we are all still meeting on Nov. 25th at Tawandang because I am going fly back to Bankgok specifically to attend this and then fly out to Hanoi the next day.

I'll make the reservation about a week or two prior to the GTG. By then I should know who all is coming. The reservation will be under the name "Fodor's".

I am wondering if it might be a good idea to request a table on the upper level? It might be more conducive to conversing but I can't remember if there were also speakers upstairs.

Brad, is is quieter upstairs? I know that the downstairs tables are preferable due to being near the stage but won't it be easier to chat upstairs? Maybe it will be quieter?

Smeagol, as Brad has posted, we are meeting at 7:00 on the 25th but you can come any time. We definitely need reservations as this place gets packed every night of the week.

You can't miss this place. It kind of stands out. Looks like a big wooden barrel. I think most of the cab drivers know it as it is a very popular place for big celebrations. it holds 1,600 people!

I have a warning.

I've been there for someone birthday they had reservations for the upstaris table. when Nampeung and I arrived at Tawan dang and told the hostess we were part of a group, she said "you have to find them yourself". the place is HUGE so it would of been a pain to find anyone. fortunatly we had cell phones and called her fraind who was already inside. but I'm not sure how the Fodorites will deal with this situation.

Good point, orgy. Is anyone able to pick up some balloons so we can have them on the table to identify ourselves? I don't get in until late afternoon and I don't know where I would go to get them in the short amount of time I have before the gtg.

Who all is going? I'd like to make the reservation in the next few days.

PS: I'm playing in a pool tournament that day & may be a little late?

I'm just reading from far away here in the US, but if you read the last two replies, I think 16+ is more like it... did you read those posts?

Can anyone bring balloons!? I fly in that afternoon so I don't think I will have time to try to track some down so that people can spot us. I know we will probably be the table with the most falangs but balloons would be helpful in a place that holds 2000.

Yes, Brad, I think you need to make the reservation for at LEAST 16.

I'll increase the reservation to 16. I'll tell them it is a special party, so we may have something like balloons?

The reservation is for 8PM. They don't take reservations after 8, especially for large groups. The place will be full by then, and most stay until midnight+.

I'm playing in a tournament, and will try to finish ASAP. You have my number if there is a problem.
