singapore or airfrance - need help!!
I have a choice between airfrance or singapore airline going to vietnam from ny. The price is the same for both of them. Any suggestion. Thanks.
Singapore Airlines.
Singapore Air....there's no question about it! Happy Travels!
Joining the SQ party wagon. Completely agree with the two previous posters, no question - Singapore Airlines! Have a great flight!
singapore airlines hands down.
Get the non-stop from EWR to SIN. SQ's 340-500 has Executive Economy with wider seats and more legroom than standard economy on either SQ or AF.
so your choice is the best airline in the world vs the rest. singaopore just about always wins.
Thank you for the reply. I guess my next question would be what's wrong air france. It seems like I would get there faster than singapore airline.
Even if it takes longer use Singapore. More comfortable plane, service is 1000% better as is the food.
Singapore Airlines without a doubt. The non-stop is the best flight but if you take the one stop flight(via Frankfurt I think ) Singapore Airlines is still the best choice. You don't really want to change places at Paris CDG, changing planes at Singapore Changi Airport is 10 ( or 100 ) times better. I don't think anyone is knocking Air France, choosing the best of airlines depends on what is on offer. In this case Singapore Airlines I am certain will get the vote of almost everyone.
Thank you everyone. Singapore airline it is.
This is the ultimate no brainer- Singapore Air- the reasons are obvious.
They are rated number 1 most years- I'm not even sure Air France even shows up on the list! |
Try looking at airlinequality.com
Conde Nast Traveller also does a lot of rankings. |
I've been on Air France several times...not by choice..but by frequent flyer affiliations and personally I have not had good service with them. Happy Travels!
Singapore Airlines, any day... Top class service, new planes to name a few reasons why... Also a big plus as some have noted, is transiting in Changi Airport Terminal 2 which is a wonderful place to hang around if you're forced to.

Hi max10
I am also looking for airfares from NYC to Vietnam. Can I ask what kind of quotes you are getting? Do you have a good travel agency or consolidator you are using? Thanks! |
I got $1300 from jfk to saigon on singapore airline. This is for travel in mid december. let me know if you need the contact info. orbitz has airfrance for around the same price.
EVA Air out of Newark is running about $1100 if you can find seats. This is for their coach service. You can get Contin ental miles on EVA Air.
Also- I ran some dates on EVA Air site- depart 11/30 and return 12/18- you can go Evergreen Deluxe CXlass (like Business) for $1346. Now not all dates in December are available- but if you are flexible on dates and want to go "Almost" Business- EVA Air is definitely one option you should look at.
Hi max10,
I am not going until next August, but would appreciate the contact details for your flight source. BillT- I have read your advice about EVA on other posts. I also plan to check them out. Would be great to get a deal in August to fly Evergreen Deluxe! Thanks! |
I don't thgink EVA Air will quote you rates that far out- I think they go out 4-6 months at most.
His number is 212-791-3228. Ask for S.T. Wong.
I tried the EVA website but the search return a 'cannot find' page. So, I just gave up. |
Max 10- don't know why it won't work for you- I was able to punch in newark to Ho Chi Minh and plug in several dates in late November thru mid december and got results- what are you dates I'll check them for you.
I used Dec 9 - Dec 26. I tried a few times and then gave up.
I'll try these dates- check in the morning on 9/23.
12/9 - 12/26, EVA'w website is showing Deluxe Class fare of $1,650+tax (~$1,730 I believe). Economy is $1,320+ tax ($1,408). It's probably more expensive then BillT suggested as you're getting into high season around Christmas.
Good thing about EWR-(SEA)-TPE-SGN is that all legs are on 747s with the Deluxe Class seats, not just from a West Coast city to Taipei. |
