Bad news. I knew who Mephistophiles was long before I went to law school. A clssical education although I'm way too young to have gotten one. Everybody in Camridge knows this.

and I never went to law school but have known who Mephistopheles is for most of my life it seems -- certainly can't remember a time when I didn't. Probably first exposure came as a child at the opera.

Guess dearest Bob and I are just uneducated misfits from Podunk Junction... no opera for me... only a few rock concerts with DS Brad, and a few stage shows in Vegas.

I asked DH if he knew, last night, before I posted the wiki meaning. He didn't know either.

My masters degree plus an extra 60+ hours (not in a PhD program) did me very little good... lol!

But then, I know lots about a lot of other things. I'll bet dear Bob does too!

And there are things that EVERYONE knows and I don't -- I still remember the shock of my staff when I walked out of my office and asked them who "Jerry garcia" was and why the radio was making such a big fuss about the fact that he had died. :-).
And I almost got thrown out of chicago when I first moved here and asked who Michael Jordon was? :-)

And ask me anything about science or math or gardening or home repair and about 1000 other things and I draw a blank. But "the devil" -- now that I'm an expert on.

It wasn't disappointing so much as it was rather boring... hohum... without the daily bantering. You already know about that one big word that I had to wiki... so I won't go into that one.
