RHKKMK send greetings from Romania

i know i am on the wrong board....maybe i will also post some advertising here about my guiding service in romania....haha

the trip is going well and i have thus far driven 2400 kilometers....the roads are generally much better than what has been reported....

our hotels hover around $80-110 per nite and are quite decent....not lux by any means but nice and comfy....the hosts are welcoming...

the food is ok, but not great...
we were desperate for something different last nite so had "chinese"
food....it was ok also but lacked spice and decent veggies, even the asian types....

india is looking better all the time....

we both miss our daily interface with you all and look forward to our return on nov 9......

i had panda stew my first nite here...

It's good to hear from you, Bob. Glad you are enjoying yourself, and pleased to hear that it doesn't measure up to your Asian destinations...

We'll be in Sri Lanka by the time you arrive home to Needham.

Gpanda Oct 28th, 2007 08:13 AM

This is totally outside the rules. This is an Asia forum. NO EUROPE posts allowed. The meanderings of wayward Needhamites through Transylvania hold no interest for us.

Plus pandas do not stew, they smoke.

rhkkmk, your post intrigued me as we were considering a trip to Romania for next year but decided on going back to Austria and Prague. We are still considering Romania for a future trip so I will be interested in reading your trip report!

And if I go I will be avoiding panda stew...

Bob- Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself. Please post a trip report over on the Europe board so we can hear all about it.

Craig Oct 28th, 2007 10:31 AM

Nice to hear from you, Bob - its been rather quiet here. Because you mentioned having Chinese food last night, Fodor's will probably not move your thread to the Europe board. I look forward to a trip report when you return - post it here or I will never see it (ha ha).

Tell Karen that Jeane and I say "Hi".

simpsonc510 Oct 28th, 2007 11:02 AM

Bob and Karen

I was wondering when we might hear from the two of you. If my calculations are correct, you are but a few days away from moving on to the UK... ? Boston was two weeks ago, and you were leaving right after that for your two weeks in Romania.

I am looking forward to your report. If you post it on the Europe board, be sure to give us a link here! Your Asia board friends want to read all about your travels to "other" destinations. Sounds like Asia is still #1... ?

Enjoy the rest of your trip. Post when you can.

Carol

Pleeeeease post it here. It will be too hard to find on the Europe board.

cigalechanta Oct 28th, 2007 04:58 PM

I object to the Panda Stew :)

CFW Oct 28th, 2007 07:36 PM

Hi Bob & Karen,

I was wondering whether we would here from you in Romania. Please do post a trip report -- with a link to Asia for those of us who rarely venture out beyond Asia any more....

filmwill Oct 28th, 2007 09:32 PM

Bob + Karen,

Sorry that we're going to miss you by only one day...we leave for BKK on the 8th!

Romanian Chinese food, huh? Eek!

Looking forward to catching up upon both our returns.

Happy travels!

rhkkmk Oct 29th, 2007 10:11 AM

thanks very much...more to come and a trip report of no more than 60 pages....i will not be telling about the wallpaper because there isn't any...nor about the hot thai peppers...

bookchick Oct 29th, 2007 10:56 AM

Good Heavens!

The moon becomes full and beautiful, the Red Sox take the National Championship and now rhkkmk checks in from Romania! Well, you are, IMO, always welcome here, Bob. I look forward to the entire trip report, but pray in the meantime that at least there's toilet paper! Didn't Karen tell me over dinner at The Similans that you're going to be in or near Dracula's castle on Halloween? IMO, that's a lot scarier than Panda in A Stew...or would that be a slow simmer?

Best Wishes,
BC

Keep having a ball! Happy Travels!

simpsonc510 Oct 29th, 2007 05:56 PM

Hey, Bob, there is a program on the history channel about Vlad the Impaler (Dracula). Interesting story!

Smeagol Oct 30th, 2007 09:48 AM
