We wanted a corner apt and this was the only one available for our dates.

yestravel - that's the condo right behind my condo (Supakarn Condominium)! It does not front the river because my condo is right in front but we, the tenant association of Supakarn condominium, allow the residents of Baan Sathorn to walk through a part of our property and allow them the use of our pier.
You can probably see the river from a high up unit. |
Further to my comment above - it's around a 100 yards walk from the Riverside (Baan Sathorn Chaopraya) to the actual river and you will have to go through a rather deserted shopping centre and through my condo to reach the river. The Baan Sathorn building was originally designed as an office building but they didn't sell well so it was converted into a condo.
It's not a riverfront property but near to the river. |
Our apt is on the 29th floor. Is that high enough for a view do you think? Photos of the apt show views of the river despite not being right on the river. The reviews i have read comment on the fabulous views. If the apt does not have views I'll be one unhappy tenant.
Guess it will be easy to have a GTG! |
Just reading your second comment. Do you think there is a safety issue?
|
I cannot tell if you will be able to see the river but I would definitely opt for a corner unit since my building, 34 floors high, is right in front. See map here: http://goo.gl/maps/u9DsW zoom in until you can see the building's name.
I just own the condo but I haven't live there for the past 13 years, apart from when my house was flooded a couple of years ago! Don't worry I will find a suitable place for a GTG. |
Pook, when I saw on the map where this apt building was, I thought it was right behind your condo building. Thanks for confirming that!
|
I think you will be safe and for the walk to the river pier at our condo there shouldn't be any problem.
|
the apt is a corner unti. You do have me rethinking all this though.
|
IMO not the best place to stay and if you want to be next to the river then you should really be right next to it IMO. There's one condo or service apartment sandwiched in between the Shangri La and the Mandarin Oriental but I cannot remember the name. That location looks perfect to me and it is right on the river as well.
|
Hmmm...going to give this all some more thought. I do appreciate your comments.
|
Ok, I really do want a true river view so I will reserve with the Chatrium Riverside Suites with a full river view hopefully. WIll still keep an eye out for any specials along the river that may be offered over the next months.
Again, thanks for the information -- it was invaluable. |
I think you've made a good decision.
|
I do think you will be happier with the view.
|
I keep laughing at myself that I had so much trouble with this decision! If I took so much time for each hotel/apt, I would never get all my trip planning completed.
|
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for this helpful thread. We spent four months in Paris earlier in the year and have been thinking about doing the same thing elsewhere. BKK is one of the places we were considering and I'd had a quick look at vrbo but thanks to all of you for posting some very helpful links.
yestravel, clearly we're following in your footsteps, first Paris and now BKK :) Hope you have a fabulous trip! |
ask chatrium for an apt with a view up the river
|
@rhkmk-thanks. Is the higher the floor going to be better also?
Hi well travelled...I've sent several friends going to Paris to your blog. Loved Thailand, you will too if you go. |
yes
|
