Thanks, Sartoric. I did find the very well written and interesting trip reports that you suggested and quite a few others. They provide a lot of good information. I am trying to avoid "drowning in details" and information overflow at this stage. I have to finalize decisions re. itinerary, number of days in each place, total number of days for the trip before I can digest everything about what I will see, etc. So I appreciate your suggestions.

I don't remember seeing anything (yet) about how people handle washing in these places and what's the situation re. public bathrooms. Usually we rent apartments where there a washer and maybe a dryer, which is not going to be the case for this trip. Are there maybe pay-for washing machines in hotels or inexpensive laundries for items that cannot be washed and dried in the bathroom? Are restrooms accessible for non-patrons in restaurants maybe for pay, are they usually clean and equipped with the minimum necessary? Does one have to carry around toilet paper?

Washing is easy, you will find a myriad of places that will wash and line dry your clothes for very little cost in all the tourist spots. Don't bother trying to DIY. Just keep your eyes open while walking around, or ask your hotel for a recommendation.

I would have a handy tissue or two in a pocket to substitute for TP if necessary. Depending on the establishment they may or not allow you to use the restroom, but I suspect most would.

One tip - not very PC, some distant attractions may have only squat toilets, but the disabled toilet will have a western style loo. It was Doi Inthanon NP where this dawned on me.
