Name of a Particular Wat
Credit this thread to a senior moment. Several years ago we were on a tour to Kanchanaburi that, on the way back, took us to a wat that was really impressive.
It was on a plaza -- a wat within a wat -- you can't go into the wat -- quite a few stairs leading up to the wat from the plaza. It was very near BKK or maybe even in the outskirts. Is this enough of a description for someone to tell me the name and its location? We would like to see it again in January. Thanks. Sandra |
/this sounds like about half the wats I've visited in Bangkok..:-[
Maybe someone who's come back from Kanchanaburi recently might remember? good luck! |
Not really enough here to go on (and your language is really confusing - wat means temple or monastery, but I think you're using it interchangeably with 'building').
The most impressive temple between Bangkok and Kanchanaburi would be the big chedi at Nakorn Pathom, but I don't think of it as having a lot of stairs, and you most definitely can go in (it's rare for a temple to be closed in daylight in Thailand). |

Senior moments come and go -- and so does memory!!!!!!
Sorry, MichaelBKK -- the tour guide did use the term "wat" for both buildings. I do have some pictures and it looks like a lot of steps to me. Maybe Tong will know when we see her -- particularly if I take a copy of the picture. Thanks to all, anyway. Sandra |
I googled Nathorn Pathom and you are right -- it is a chedi within a chedi. Thanks for your help.
