I happen to like the ROS tower rooms with the included laundry, food, lounge etc. I also used to like the low cost with Starwood points.

Good to see you posting, mjs. If you stay at the Plaza A give us a report. As you know, I'm addicted to the river and the Towers benefits... I've reserved a suite for November.

Hi Kathie. Trust you and Cheryl are well. Been busy flying around the US looking at Universities lately and have been mostly in Europe and Mexico and South America for vacations. Will be low on airline FF miles this year so am contemplating a early August trip to South east Asia.
Do like the ROS tower benefits but will have to see how they price out this year for a suite and a regular tower room. The PA looks interesting this summer and the Hilton has great rates.
The Conrad also has nice looking apartments.
Thinking about a few days in BKK with a stop at Face. I have told my wife that SJI has closed.
Have been trying to find nice hotels in Malaysia for our time period but it must be school hols for I find little availability outside KL. Also finding it to be a bit of a pain to travel from BKK to various parts of Malaysia. May therefore spend some time in Koh Samui. Considering the Napasai. Best fares now are to Bkk and out of Sin for my time period.
If we go I will do my best to report back.

Yes, just got the Novotel at the airport for $46 on Orbitz!

Thanks, mjs, Cheryl and I are well. We reserved our suite at the ROS using the SPG50 rate, which is a great deal. I do always check, though, on whether they have a lower rate since sometimes they have a special sale. Have a wonderful trip! I expect your wife knows not to believe you about SJ, lol.

I can't help on Samui, but have you considered Penang for your Malaysia time? You'd all love the E&O. What a fabulous place, right in the midst of historic Georgetown. And the hawker food is incredible. It's not a place to go for the beach, even though the E&O is right on the water.

Time for your daughters to look at universities! What an exciting time!

Enjoy your trip. Have an extra massage at Face in our honor.

Kathie Jul 7th, 2009 06:57 PM

wow - what a deal, Ken!

Jim0884 Jul 11th, 2009 03:13 PM

any ideas when it's best to book for December/Jan? (In BKK). Think that it's too early (discounts may be coming soon?)

MichaelBKK Jul 11th, 2009 06:02 PM

Whether or not there will be (bigger) discounts depends on where the global economy is, as well as other issues such as swine flu, politics, etc. It's a real gamble, and if deals are going to happen, they probably wouldn't happen until after the season starts in November, which makes it a real crap shoot.

If it were me, I wouldn't want to take the risk. I'd find the best deal I could now.
