In My Humble Opinion

OK, I'll show my ignorance too .... what's the meaning of the "LOL" and "ttt" abbreviations I see in Fodors postings?

Craig May 14th, 2004 02:54 PM

LOL = lots of laughs

ttt = to the top

Marilyn May 14th, 2004 03:03 PM

Ooo, controversy! I always thought LOL meant "Laugh(ing) Out Loud."

Craig May 14th, 2004 04:36 PM

Marilyn - I debated listing all the variations of LOL but the point is pretty much the same (LOL) :-)

Marilyn May 14th, 2004 05:21 PM

True enough, Craig, and always ((Y)) as long as we are :-D and not :-(( .

Neil_Oz May 14th, 2004 06:09 PM

Thanks, Craig. I did find a list of email abbreviations on the Web, but the explanation of "ttt" as "thought that too" didn't seem to fit.

Phew! I'm glad we finally got that settled. BTW, that was, IMHO, the biggest controversy we've had here on the Asia board in a long time. LOL

Neil_Oz May 18th, 2004 07:07 PM

You'll all just have to try harder. I recommend a look at the Europe board to see how to run a REAL controversy. I mostly inhabit the Australia/Pacific board and it's pretty tame too.

ttt is (at least on Fodors) short for "to the top". Basically bumping the message up so that it rises back to the top of the chronology based on the date/time it was "topped"
