It's already 3rd January here in Italy and I've just seen this topic but the candle is lit and our thoughts are with Andy & Beth at this moment.

There's one shining brightly here in Sydney, too.

His sister, Liz, has lit one in northern Sweden and planning to cross-cross ski as a celebration to Andy's love of life.

we are here with beth... andy left for the operating room about 7:15, so they should be 3/4 finished by now

rhkkmk Jan 3rd, 2011 07:24 AM

our candle is burning in needham as well

sharona Jan 3rd, 2011 07:28 AM

My candle is also burning in the Boston western suburbs. Maybe if we have a candle ring around Boston it'll keep out all the bad stuff.

we saw andy about 2:30 and stayed for about 1/2 hours.... they did extensive surgery as the tumor had more than doubled...

he was alert, or as alert as you can be after 5+ hours of surgery. He had color in his face and was moderately talkative although they had just given him some morphine for the pain.... He did complain about a huge headache---duh....

his vision, which he most feared for seemed good straight on but his left perpherial vision is not good....the dr. explained that this MAY improve after the swelling goes down. His right eye seemed fine.

beth is doing well, at least on the surface....

it is expected that he will return home before the end of the week...

Bob,

Thanks so much for the update. I'm happy you were able to talk to Andy. You all must be exhausted but relieved the surgery is over. All good thoughts for Andy and Beth.

I'm amazed that Andy was talking already. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. You have all been on my mind today as you sat with Beth. I just loved thinking of all those people united together from every corner of the world all sending the healing vibes Andy's way.
Please keep us updated Bob.
And, we will all keep the GPanda in our thoughts.
