Personally, if I had only two days, I'd spend all of my time at the temples. Some people love the floating village experience, others feel it is a waste of time. I spent a week in SR, so was able to spend lots of time at the temples as well as going to the floating village. But if I only had two days, it would be the temples.

I totally agree with Cathy. If you have only two days spend them both seeing the temples.

Forget the floating village. the temples are unique. Absorb as much as time will allow.

Really curious - whatever happened to Tong?

simpsonc510 Aug 4th, 2007 07:30 AM

Tong is fine, as far as I know. I just saw her about 3 weeks ago. She was taking a couple of days off from her very hectic schedule of taking fodorites and other visitors on tours.

sharon1306 Aug 4th, 2007 10:43 PM

Tong is fine, I just received an email from her today. She's busy as always...

travelduo Aug 5th, 2007 06:13 AM

Actually, she is back in the hospital. She is going to have surgery tonight. She asked for prayers for her. She said has been way too busy and has only been eating breakfast for the past week.

I just got an e-mail from Tong last night and then another one from her just this morning. In this morning's e-mail she said that she was in the hospital. I think it's due to exhaustion. It was a bit difficult to make out the English. I'm hiring her in December as a Christmas present to a friend of mine who'll meet me in Bangkok. Happy Travels!

Her English was hard to understand on our email to! Its usually really good. At first i thought everything was ok with her because she started of the email talking about my wifes tattoo of hanuman! Then told us all about the hospital.

Just heard back from tong. SHe's doing ok. She's still waiting for the test results though. Doctors advised her rest, but knowing her she'll be up and about in no time...

Guenmai Aug 6th, 2007 06:56 AM

I just got an e-mail from Tong updating me on her condition. I sent her an e-mail reply about an hour ago. All of her medical tests have come back negative so she's really relieved about that. However, she's very tired. A big part of the exhaustion is that she doesn't live in Bangkok so she has to drive quite a way to get to her clients in Bangkok and then that combined with not eating properly for a week, and being stressed is what has caused the stomach problem. We all know how horrendous the traffic is in and around Bangkok. So, I gave her a little lecture about eating properly, taking care of herself, and getting some serious rest and to remember how important good health is since without it you have nothing. I'll probably hear back from her later today for an update. I told her that I'd let you all know how she's doing. Although I don't have her booked until December, I told her that I'd give her a ring when I get to Bangkok in a couple of weeks to see how she's doing. Happy Travels!

Thanks for the update Guen. If you hear any more do let us know.

Thanks for the updates. Send her our love. I have her booked for November. Tried sending emails directly yesterday, but they kept bouncing back. I was quite worried about her. Does anyone know, did she have some sort of surgery or just tests?

sharon1306 Aug 7th, 2007 05:24 AM

Tong's back home from the hospital. She's doing ok, and will be taking some rest like the doctor has suggested. Most of the test results are back, I think there's only one left.

Guenmai Aug 7th, 2007 07:09 AM

Jules... I just got an e-mail from Tong and have e-mailed her back. She's better and said that she won't be so "crazy" from now on. Smiles. In other words she'll take it easy. She is very grateful for all of the concern of her condition from folks on this forum and says that she can't believe how great we all are over here. So, she asked me to call her when I get to Bangkok in a couple of weeks, so I'll talk to her then. Happy Travels!

jules39 Aug 7th, 2007 12:29 PM

Thanks Guen. I will wait a little while before emailing her to see how she is doing so that she will hopefully take it easy. Thanks for letting her know that so many people are concerned about her.

Guenmai Aug 8th, 2007 07:12 AM

Yep...she's at home and resting. I just got an e-mail and jsut answered her. Happy Travels!

Gpanda Aug 9th, 2007 03:32 PM

Just had an E-mail exchange with her. She's doing better.

rhkkmk Aug 9th, 2007 06:59 PM

it seems she got sick thinking of having to entertain mr panda for another day.....all those stupid questions, like: "what is phad thai?"

"why is the river so dirty?"
"do you speak english?"
"do they have a flush toilet?"
"can i eat street food?"
"ice or no ice"
"does the oriental really have brown water?"
"is it true that the ROS is the best hotel in bkk?"
