Haircut?

Kind of trivial question but any tips on getting a (mens) haircut in Bangkok? (will be in Silom district)

rhkkmk Feb 18th, 2005 08:25 PM

i always get my hair cut at the peninsula hotel...comes with a great head massage...

I pay B 50 ( $1.25 ) and it's great, I usuallu add another B 20 tip, if you are looking for a good haircut Thailand is the place, they are excellent, any local barber just B 50 for a straight no messing haircut, if you want wash and style maybe up to B 200 ( $5 )

Thanks Bob and James. The local cut is what I usually go for when I'm on holiday. Can be a bit of a challenge getting the message across but that's just part of the fun. Up until now Turkish haircuts are the best I've had but we'll see what Bangkok comes up with.

my only concern is about cleanliness of the utensils...check it out..

SidB Feb 21st, 2005 02:02 AM

"cleanliness of the utensils...check it out.."

?? What hazard are you talking about ??

rhkkmk Feb 21st, 2005 10:37 AM

sid---i can't seem to choose the correct words for you: "market or mall"; "clean or dirty", i.e. like diseased...aids, vd, you name it...why do you think that barbers, hairdressers and manicurists are regulated in many countries???

all smalley wants to do is have his/her hair cut...just an advisory and common sense...

yes sid you have managed to make me mad...

BjorkChop Feb 21st, 2005 11:47 AM

SidB,
Head lice for starters.

rhkkmk Feb 21st, 2005 06:11 PM

bob: i didn't know you can get vd from a haircut. i thought it was only from the toilet seat. :-).

btw, i get my hair cut on the 4th fl. at mbk.

rhkkmk Mar 25th, 2005 09:35 AM

cost of the haircut...2800B sticks in my mind...that must be for both of us...one man and one woman....i think the basic may be 750B...i'm just guessing actually

Smalley Apr 9th, 2005 10:37 PM

Just reporting back that I ended up at a little salon in a side street just off Silom Road, it think it was Soi Sala Daeng. Paid 200 Baht incl 50 tip.

orgy7 Apr 10th, 2005 05:01 PM

kuranosuk didn't I advice ya not too go to MBK they love too rip of tourist.. I pay 60 baht...

rhknk if you can catch VD from the hairstylist you must be going too the salons on lower sukunvit where the girls who dress like prostituts and posibly practice that trade as well.

kuranosuke Apr 10th, 2005 06:50 PM

orgy; i think i had one too many changs when you told me that, as i don't remember your warning.

take me to your barber next time, but i don't want your hairstyle. i don't think thai punk would look good on me. :-).
