Perhaps Andy could dictate to Beth for her to post. Andy, we'd love to hear from you. Any rememberance of any of your Asian trips we'd love to hear, especially if there is some special experience or thought you have been thinking of.
In fact, though I've heard much about the famous "muscle trick" as I have not been privileged to see it, would appreciate a full description, either from you or, one who has witnessed it in all its glory! Sue |
Sue the famous (infamous) muscle trick was posted on YouTube by Hanuman after a dinner with Andy and Beth, Bob and Karen at Hanuman's home. I don't have the link, but I'm sure someone does!
I will convey to Beth/Andy about the idea of Andy posting to Fodors via Beth's reading and typing. |
i have sent beth an e mail

I am really sorry to hear this, but thanks for the update.
|
Thanks Bob, my very best wishes to you, too. It's very tough when the people we love are going through difficult times.
|
Thank you Bob for the updates. I didn't know of Gpanda until about 10 months ago when I was asked to go to Thailand. I started searching Fodors for help and read many of Gpanda's posts. Just the name, Gpanda, put a smile on my face.
I've never met him, only know of him through his posts and everyone's thoughts of him and he sounds like a wonderful person and friend. Like Elainee said, we all learn a sad lesson from this. Enjoy each day. Love, thoughts and prayers to Gpanda, his family, friends and his many Fodorite friends. |
Will continue to send good energy to Mr. and Mrs Panda.
|
Many thanks to Bob and Kathie for the updates on Andy's situation, it keeps us in the loop no matter what the condition is. Sending warmest thoughts and encouragement to Andy and Beth, we are all thinking about you.
|
Kathie, Hanuman took down that muscle trick link. Maybe he can upload it for us again to reminisce.
Aloha! |
I just re-read this thread so sorry for the late reply. The muscle trick video should still be up and here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/Apiwatyt#p/u/3/cbwBFLLGzpY

we spent a couple of hours with andy and beth this afternoon. we have been trying to do this at least once per week.
his care has now become almost a 24/7 proposition. he sleeps on and off all day, sitting in his favorite recliner. at night he moves to a hospital bed in an adjacent room. he has a sitter from 11-7 daily at night. last night he did not sleep at all and was a bit combative. he seemed weaker to me today. he had a blank look on his face. he did talk some about 1/2 of which was ragtime... the nurse came while we were there and he answered her questions quite well. she asked the month and he said april, she suggested today was a holiday and he said Easter... she suggested a warm summer holiday and he was stumped. he was able to tell her some about his medications however. she explained that they were changing some to keep him safer at night and allow him to sleep better. he had no comment. a neighbor came in while we were there also and he seemed to know them, including the son just home from college. he wolfed down a piece of lemon cake and some "yuppie soda" as he calls it. his eating remains decent. it is so sad to watch, but he seems a bit content. he did say something about wishing he would get better soon. the talk of dying was absent today. for now he is comfortable and basically calm. i suspect this will remain constant until the tumor overtakes him and he fades out of consciousness. i told he and beth that you all ask about them on a regular basis. beth really appreciated it. keep those candles burning for comfort now. |
Bob, we will do that. So sorry, but hope he is comfortable.
|
Thanks for the update, Bob. I was going to email you today to ask about Andy.
|
I was actually just thinking about Andy when this update came up. Doesn't seem fair.
|
Oh dear, Bob, I've been thinking about GPanda too; didn't want to ask the question because I didn't want to see the answer.
Hanuman's video of the muscle arm brings his humour & vibrancy to the screen. And reflection on the fragility of our being. My very kindest thoughts & best wishes to you who know & love Gpanda. |
So sad! It's good to remember all the great travels he had and how much we all enjoyed reading about them.

Bless you all.

Thanks for the update Bob and Karen. I think of Andy and Beth so often and I'm so glad you are our eyes and ears right now.
