A chilling report!

thursdaysd Nov 1st, 2013 06:02 AM

If I took a guide at all, I would probably be happier with a woman, as I have found male drivers in India reluctant to take direction from a woman. However, I don't know that I would feel any safer. Having a male companion hasn't protected women from gang rape in India, so I don't see that having a woman companion would work any better.

"she is hound that's the plus point " ??? Need a better translation.

Thursday,
Do you think you would amend any India reports you have done to caution others of the dangers of women traveling to India anytime in the near future?
Aloha!

You know, ht, that's a pretty good idea - will do.

BTW, I'm looking forward to reading the TR your current trip [hint].

The constant deletion of the thread on Kim j is one of the reasons I will not do a trip report on this site. Besides, I have already done reports on these areas and the new visiting fodorites reports on this trip would make a report by me again a little redundant I think.

Aloha!

"If you can't prevent rape, you enjoy it," says head of top Indian investigation agency.

And again. A 51 year-old Danish woman in New Delhi.

Horrific. Infuriating.

crellston Jan 15th, 2014 09:27 AM

Just read on Reuters that the police have arrested two men.

dgunbug Jan 15th, 2014 12:48 PM

Incredible - can't believe that in the heart of Delhi this could happen. Taking india off my list for now. This is so sad.

jacketwatch Jan 15th, 2014 12:54 PM

I agree. Don't go. My thoughts are with the victims and hopes are with India to squash this horrible violation.

And a young German charity worker on a train:

Thanks for the link. So depressing.

Not a tourist, but indicative of attitudes.

It just gets more and more horrifying. Adopting an"eye for an eye" policy when deciding on punishments for these animals would surely change male attitudes pretty quickly. India is off my list.

I can never see any civilized country in this world legalizing what basically amounts to torture.

Would you be the executioner?

crellston Jan 23rd, 2014 11:46 PM

Jacketwatch, way back you asked me not to respond to any of your posts. Please afford me the same courtesy.

"I can never see any civilized country in this world legalizing what basically amounts to torture. " - Guantanamo ?

I usually don't but that comment was too much to let go and besides that its not your forum. You should be ashamed of saying such things.
