Fodorite Calendar

I have created a shared calendar that all can use to enter their GTG's, vacations, birthdays. Hopefully the link below will take you there. You are free to add in your items- include your screen name and keep it short. Will topp every day so people will begin to use it. Save the link as one of your favorites and then add in your events as they come up. I have added my trip in March 2009 so check that out to get an idea of what to put in the calendar.

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 06:08 AM

If you like I can add your items in the calendar for you- just let me know what you want added.

rhkkmk Jul 25th, 2008 06:49 AM

i added two

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 07:09 AM

Ok guys lets fill it up - Craig, Geun, Kathie, Carol, GPanda, etc!

Bella_Bluebell Jul 25th, 2008 08:13 AM

lovely idea! have entered my bday and holiday next yr in thailand

Craig Jul 25th, 2008 09:23 AM

I don't feel comfortable posting this type of information (birthday, exact travel dates) on a public website.

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 09:26 AM

Its totally voluntary- and after all using your screen name imparts a certian level of protection- only your Fodor friends know who you are.....hmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!. Now if you don't post your birthday Craig how am I going to wish you a happy birthday and send along that expensive gift, huh?

Kathie Jul 25th, 2008 10:15 AM

I know what you mean, Craig, but I decided to post nonetheless.

lcuy Jul 25th, 2008 11:18 AM

Besides, Craig, we all know your name is Craig Richards your birthday is August 5,1968 and your trips this year will be to Branson Missouri the first two weeks of October, and Las Vegas for Christmas!

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 11:27 AM

Guen - how about you???????

Kathie Jul 25th, 2008 11:40 AM

lol, lcuy!

Craig Jul 25th, 2008 01:12 PM

All right, I surrender - just as long as I don't have to give out my SS# and mother's maiden name. I'll post our b-days now and Vietnam dates when confirmed.

Craig Jul 25th, 2008 01:43 PM

Bill - if you give me your e-mail, I'll provide my address so you'll know where to send my expensive gift. Jeane will expect one too.

... many thanks, Bill ... (almost like "doing the Do" on sweet sqtalk, flyertalk, and one all-sq-all-the time site which shall remain nameless) ...

... just plugged in my little 28 July TG F BKK-HKG "spa do" ... but mind you, unless you are a full-on asian femme fatale, don't even bother (particularly, at that hour) ... (and, as always, please don't tell the SQ-forever wife) ...

... hope you don't mind the "golden hue" of my calendar listing : out of respect for my sweetie's "Golden Goose" that rides with each and every SIA flight ... (if only SQ had direct BKK-HKG service, all would be right in our little tender union ... (and, if, a couple of middle eastern carriers would suddenly roll over and "cry uncle") ...

... all the best to you, and, as always, do kindly consider : SQ - thank you ...

AskOksena:
Please keep it short and concise on the calendar!
Your calendar posting is not "In Order"
I am the calendar Natzi- you know vee have vawys of making you comply.

AskOksena Jul 25th, 2008 04:15 PM

... greetings Bill,

... just checked my sweet spa do listing for 28 July: all seems fine, although, my initial yellow colour to honour mrs. m's certain Singaporean airline has been changed to "blue"; (still one of SQ's palates; well done).

... hope this will suffice; will edit (or remove) if necessary ... (and just between us: I also enjoyed a joyous "Royal" Pattaya time ... vaguely recall overhearing the occasional Russian ... (pre-mrs. m era, mind you) ...

... thanks again, and savour your tender times ...

Bill
I'm trying to enter dates but having difficulty. Any tips I need to know?
Carol

Hanuman Jul 25th, 2008 06:34 PM

Carol,

Try clicking on the number or the actual date like "2" and then click "create". After you've input the information click "submit".

Hope this help!

rhkkmk Jul 25th, 2008 07:09 PM

also have to click on the year

Femi Jul 25th, 2008 07:26 PM

Wow, we're a busy bunch. Nice idea Bill.

Hanuman Jul 25th, 2008 11:55 PM

Hmmm... ok guys for the date of Oct 10, who input that I'm hosting a GTG in Paris?

AskOksena Jul 26th, 2008 01:17 AM

>>>Hmmm... ok guys for the date of Oct 10, who input that I'm hosting a GTG in Paris?<<<

...(just let those sensational Singapore Girls handle you, SIN-CDG, SQ333/334 ... (leave it to you for the SQ BKK-SIN sectors) ...

... be seeing you ... (perhaps this Friday, TG HKG RFL, pre-607 F ... one of my favourite Friday monthly haunts ... (mrs. m, warm bath, massage treatments, await in beloved BKK ... (unless she's in SIN - or at 36,000 feet) ...

... gentle hostess, in your sarong, you care for me, as only you know how ...

BillT Jul 26th, 2008 02:59 AM

Hanumn- I correctd it. You had selected the GTG category on that day so I presumed you had one in mind. Still not a bad idea don't you think?

BillT Jul 26th, 2008 03:17 AM

Calendar tips:

1) Please use the category field when creating your items. I have added a fourth category- "Other Events" for the misc. items now appearing.

2) please use the default colors that come with each category- this will maintain some order to the colors and allow you to more easily find GTGs (green), birthdays (lavender), vacations (blue) etc.

3) Please keep you description short as others may be posting on the same day. Use the pop up field to expand your text and add a URL if applicable

4) Comments and feedback are welcome- enjoy your Fodorite Calendar!

Hanuman Jul 26th, 2008 04:21 AM

Ok Bill but I don't think I'll have the time since I'm only spending the weekend there and I'm not really sure what time I will arrive in Paris as I haven't bought the train ticket!

simpsonc510 Jul 26th, 2008 04:57 AM

OK, I've put in some travel dates. But I don't know how to add the color!

BTW, my computer has shut down twice now, while I'm trying to work on this calendar. WHATTTTT!!!!

As you can see, I'm not tech savvy.

Carol

Hanuman Jul 26th, 2008 05:09 AM

Carol,

Hit it a few times and it should work!

simpsonc510 Jul 26th, 2008 05:29 AM

hanuman
LOL!! That solution often works...

One of my problems is I'm traveling and the internet connection isn't all that great here. It has cut out on me this morning... ugh

Anyway, the calendar is a good idea. I've added it to my favorites.

Maybe I'll see you while I'm in BKK in August for two weeks.

Carol

BillT Jul 26th, 2008 05:50 AM

Come on get with it!

Hanuman Jul 26th, 2008 07:23 AM

That would be nice Carol. Brad coming?

simpsonc510 Jul 26th, 2008 06:04 PM

Hanuman
Brad will be back in BKK in October, basically for the month. We will both be back in December/January as well.
Carol

FromDC Jul 27th, 2008 07:06 AM

Whew! Added my Oct/Nov trip. Now I'd better finalize, easier than editing the calendar!

rhkkmk Jul 27th, 2008 09:55 AM

i'm trying to put all my important stuff on the calendar from 1962 on and it keep rejecting it....please advise

BillT Jul 27th, 2008 12:06 PM

For only $19.95 - sent to me by cashiers check I can upgrade your calendar Bob- but wait.... if you act now within the next 30 minutes I'll supesize your calendar with the addition of emoticons - just pay shipping and handling of $5.95.
This is a non-money back offer which means if you don't like your upgraded calendar you are stuck with it.

filmwill Jul 27th, 2008 03:39 PM

Have we thought of using Goggle calendars for this? It's a lot easier to use/edit.

Far be it from me to tell you anyone how to do this, but this current format is a bit convoluted and confusing.

BillT Jul 27th, 2008 04:00 PM

Well there is always a better mousetrap out there but based on how many people have responded so far it can't be all that confusing.

filmwill Jul 27th, 2008 04:07 PM

Just not sure how the coloring system works--is it a free-for-all?

Kathie Jul 27th, 2008 04:26 PM

If you choose the type of event (birthday, vacation, etc) the colors will automatically appear.

BillT Jul 27th, 2008 04:35 PM

Yes please choose a category that fits your item- I'm asking all to go with the default colors - these come with the particular category chosen. If you view the calendar you will see that by keeping the default colors the calendar has some order to it. Its easy to spot the GTG's , birthdays, vacations etc by the distictive color. Some people put in custom colors and I change them back to the default to keep some order.

Hanuman Jul 27th, 2008 04:36 PM

Filmwill & Nelsonian,

Happy Belated Birthday!!
