Emproium suites Bangkok and other questions
I know i have asked about places to stay on a different thread but wanted to see if anyone has any knowledge of the Emporium suites in Bankok? As i have 4 nights at the end of my trip i can get a fantastic rate for a super deluxe studio (with Balcony incl breakfast and tax) for about £74 a night!
I want somewhere ideally located to nice restuarants and a skytrain and this seems to fit the bill. I am also looking at Plaza Athenee which requires a preypay and is £112 a night. I checked out Citadines 11 but the reviews on TA were so so/ Aldelphi is another option but so far my perception is that Emporium is slightly better located, but having never stayed at any of those i'm not totally sure? I also plan to check out Dream. Your advice on any of the above would be appreciated Thanks S |
Oh and fraiser suites too?
|
Go for Emporium. Location is right along the skytrain. Guenmai, who posts here, has stayed at Emporium now for about two years. She used to stay at Four Seasons all the time.
|
Thanks Carol.
we may stay at Adelphi at the beginning of the trip when we have 1 night in BKK. |
marriott just opened a new serviced apartment on soi 24... we toured it and it is fantastic... cheaper rates and free tuk tuk to sukhumvit from there... less than 3000 B i think.. www.marriott.com choose the AAA rate---they do not ask for proof
also the marriott mayfair is fantastic.... we did not like the mattiott on sathorn nearly as well... emporium is nice too but slightly older---guenmai always loved it... |
Emporium is top-notch. I'd grab that deal in a second.
Guen took us to see her Deluxe Studio when we were in Bangkok in November. It was beautiful! And it's location is so convenient... you go directly from the Emporium complex into the Skytrain station. There is a fabulous grocery store in the Emporium mall. I'd much rather stay somewhere the skytrain is accessible without a tuk-tuk. |
Thanks everyone, i think i will book Emporium as i too would rather not have to get a Tuk tuk. I thought the deal seemed pretty good and we get an extra 20% off as i am booking for 4 nights. Be interesting to compare, we normally stay 5* by the river......
Bob i checked out the Marriot, they look good only things put me off where needing a tuk tuk and the reviews on TA were a but hit and miss. My head is spinning with all the options but one thing to note i will be back in Bangkok YEAH. |
I've stayed there 5 years and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. And I've seen tons of building around town. Happy Travels!
|
Guenmai!! We've missed you!!
Happy new year...Hope you are doing well. |
Smeagol- i've also seen the apartment Guenmai had at the Emporium Suites. It was fabulous and in a great location.
|
Thanks for the info, think i'll book there (although i just realised i got a deluxe and super deluxe misxed up its the first one thats £74!! although the super deluxe is still under £100
Does look like a great option for me. I'll let you know how i get on. |
Ermm i have just found the Chatrium suites (riverside) same people as the Emporium any one seen these or stayed here?
|
The Chatrium is pretty new. There have been a couple of reports here. ANd even before it opened there were rave reviews on TA. (Part of the reason I don't like TA) I did look at Chatrium before they opened. The quality of the construction there is not very good, and frankly, I though the design was poor. It is on the river, but it is not in an area of walk-able restaurants. The Emporium is much nicer.
You should be able to get the Chatrium for cheap. |
Hi guenmai!!! Come back!!!
I'd pick Emporium over Chatrium, and I've not stayed at either one. Just the ease of getting to the skytrain would be the best feature for me. No tuk tuk, no shuttle boat, no battling traffic or the elements! I just might look to see if I could get a good deal on Emporium. I've been loyal to Adelphi now for 2 years, basically since they opened. Carol |
I was given a thorough walk-through of all three towers of Chatrium in November. I wasn't impressed at all. Mr.Chatrium also owns Emporium Suites and should have stayed with that concept as far as I'm concerned.
Lcuy:Happy New Year to you, too. I've been meaning to e-mail you, but just got very busy during the holidays and never got around to finishing up a lot of e-mails. Happy Travels! |
Smeagol: Try to get a park view and a suite ending in the #15, if possible. Happy Travels!
|
Smeagol: I forgot to add that I have the Studio Suite Super Deluxe/80 square meters. Happy Travels!
|
Smeagol: I had a thorough walk through of Frazer, some years ago, back when I had to walk over and around on-going construction. That was the Frazer building on the same street as Marriott Maydfair which I also had a walk through of.
I also had a walk through of about every serviced apartment building on that street except the French owned one which I wasn't able to see an apartment in. I personally don't like that street. Frazer was very nice and modern, but to me looked like most of the other clone, modern serviced apartment buildings that are popping up all over the city. Like walking into a doll house..miniature-looking everything. Marriott Mayfair was the opposite and very conservative looking to me and was not what I was looking for. And as for "new", well, "new" doesn't always mean better. Happy Travels! |
Thanks everyone. Emporium it is. My dilemma now is a superior room or a super deluxe suite?. (its the balcony that attracts me to that- its an additional £25 per night?)
Guen - what does the balcony look over? |
OK i booked Emporium and i went for the studio super deluxe suite. (the balcony swung it)
Thanks everyone for your advice. |
