DEET % in Insect repelants - help?

Hi,
I am wondering what DEET % is the optimal when it comes to preventing the insectigs feasting. The options vary from 40-100% and all claim to "be the best". Any advice would be recommended!
Thanks

Try this site: http://insect-repellent.net/Deet-Permethrin/deet.htm

If you can't connect using this address then try doing a web search for DEET effectiveness. That's how I came up with the address given above.

The best and safest insect repellent especially for kids is lavender oil. Add a few drops in your daily lotion with sunscreen you kill 2 birds with one stone.

This may sound strange, but we have found that rubbing your arms and neck with a piece of fabric-softener tissue works well as a mosquito-repellant.

The cdc recommends 20-30% deet. Too high a percentage will increase the likelihood of having a reaction to the repellant. read about it at www.cdc.gov

The you are just worried about mosquitoes being pesky, you can certainly try other preparations, as advised above. If you are concerned about mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue or JE, go with the proven repellant: deet.

For anyone wanting to "go natural" for insect repellant (especially for small children and pregnant women), locals here in Malaysia say tea tree oil works.

So a few drops of lavender oil or tea tree oil in suncream or body cream would be okay? Wow thats fantastic... if thats the case maybe lavender insense would deter them as well?
