Bullet train in China

We are thinking to take the bullet train from Beijing to Xian to see some country side. Anyone done this? Thank you

That would be 2 hours of a 200 mph blur of trackside rubbish. Enjoy china!

The ride is actually six hours. The scenery along this route is not the most interesting. But the ride is comfortable and a good alternative to flying.

Have you considered taking the night train? I've taken it twice, back in the early 2000s. The second time I shared a soft sleeper with a man who turned out to be president of a local university and his wife, who offered me a ride to my hotel. According to seat61 there are now deluxe soft sleepers on the Beijing-Xi'an route, so you would not need to share if you didn't want to. I agree that the scenery is more interesting further west..

Yes its closer to 6 hrs. I looked that up. And no no night train for us. We have never been to China so I do want to see the country side FWIW and honestly we just dont sleep well on trains, been there, tried it so we want to stay on as normal a sleep schedule as possible.

Thanks for the replies, especially that link. !
