Is he on the "no fly" list. the train ride from Melbourne is very long.

TravelRibbon Oct 14th, 2008 03:50 PM

Hi Katie,

Thanks for the books. I won "The Complete African Safari Planner." I'm looking forward to reading more in-depth when I have time.

Thanks to Bob and Andy for organizing such a fun gathering. I missed last year's and I regretted it. I can't believe we've been meeting for 5 years. Amazing.

I'm not sure what more I can add to what's already been said. It was fun, wonderful, and a nice break from my homework! :) I enjoyed meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends.

Thanks to all for posting the links to their pictures.

Looking forward to next year's GTG.

Send him the Scooby suit. Maybe he can slip in as someone's pet!

dogster Oct 14th, 2008 06:08 PM

This all so flattering to wake up to. I'm undeserving.

Dogster, I note, is lapping up the praise. He's ordered 3,000 copies of his doppelganger picture and seems to stare for long hours at the picture of him and Patricia, howling at the moon and lost opportunity - but he's a NEEDY kinda pooch.

I'm going to have to get him spayed.

I'm sure by this time next year, assuming I haven't been slaughtered in foreign climes, you'll all be so sick of me the attendance figures will go DOWN.

rhkkmk Oct 14th, 2008 06:09 PM

just so there is no confusion....i knew the number of give aways that we had....i assigned numbers to name tags and i awarded the many prizes according to where i listed each prize with a number....it would be way toooooo difficult for andy to figure out...

btw, he did really well this year....did you notice that during his opening remarks, that when the ambulance went by, he hardly even blinked an eye....it must have been eating him up inside....another $25 lost...

Gpanda Oct 15th, 2008 01:51 AM

We need to keep the substitute Dogster. He delights us each evening with his tales of Jimmys. His enunciation is a little slurred but he drinks a bit.

Eeeck! I've just now discovered this post (thanks to Lucy's "lcuy" post on the US board). I foolishly thought the Boston GTG might have been posted in the Lounge. I know. Silly me!

Anyway, I just wanted to add my thanks to all the organizers and to Fodors. And thanks Katie for the door prize. Mine was the book on Peru. I think it's an omen to get me away from Europe and the Caribbean!

It was indeed a good time and I only attended the Saturday brunch. I'm hoping to be able to attend more of the weekend events next year.

Gpanda Oct 18th, 2008 01:47 AM

Special thanks to Lcuy. I just began to eat the chocolate biscottis that she gave me for my birthday. They're delicious.

Next year, Bob and I have both agreed to stop taking our medications twp weeks before the GTG. It should be fun.

DonTopaz Oct 18th, 2008 05:05 AM

biscotti, pls.

biscotti is the plural form: 1 biscotto, 2 biscotti.

Means twice(bis)-cooked(cotto), coz yuo roll out the dough, half-cook it once, cut the dough into the slices, then cook it a second time to get the final result.

Nnttm.

Gpanda Oct 18th, 2008 05:30 AM

Is pedantic singular or plural?

Rather than twice-cooked, I seek half-baked. With a fair degree of success, I might add.

You should have all of your energy focused on tonight's game. Visualize Josh Beckett from last year's playoffs. That would do the trick. Further visualize james Shields so stuffed with biscotti that he can't move.

DonTopaz Oct 18th, 2008 05:41 AM

Pedantic, kinda like sayin' the last letter in them there gerund words?

Peggy Noonan, god bless her pompous heart, may be right about the dumbing down (dummin' down?) of the everything.

Sort of like people saying that professorial is a bad thing. Since when?

I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it any more. Furthermore,

Are there other picture links? I can't get the names to appear under any of the pics. I've tried the detaIl view, but that didn't so it either.

Jed Oct 18th, 2008 07:33 AM

Where are the picture links? ((*))

kybourbon Oct 18th, 2008 07:53 AM

This is the one I can't get the names to show even though I can tell they are there.

Mimi also posted this link for Nikki's pics.

You're not small enough to be a gerund. No blleeping way!

Rizzutto's appearances in the pictures are excellent

DonTopaz Oct 18th, 2008 09:08 AM

Rizzutto's[sic] appearances in the pictures are excellent

Overwhelming, you might say.

Jed Oct 18th, 2008 11:17 AM

kybourbon - <I can't get the names to show even though I can tell they are there.>

I just saw the Shutterfly pics. When I did the slideshow, I moved my cursor to the right upper area. There is an 'option' option, from which you can pick 'show titles' and 'show captions'.

Does that work for you? ((*))

Gpanda Oct 18th, 2008 11:26 AM

"t's', "z's" there's a bunch of them in some ridiculous order. Who cares? The Scooter is gone.

simpsonc510 Oct 18th, 2008 11:52 AM

Jed, I just took your suggestion and the names came right up! Thanks!
