the inn at harvard is another possibility as is the hyatt in cambridge....there are both marriotts and residence inns near to the restaurant as well...

rhkkmk Aug 21st, 2007 07:37 PM

the westin, marriott or copley plaza and the copley square hotel and the lenox are all near copley square and the T can wisk you to cambridge in a short time....

priceline is a good option in boston usually

I don't think there are any bargains in the immediate area of Bos/Camb that weekend. The rates go up for Saturday night (in some cases the rate jumps up $100!!!)... Is that parents' weekend or something special going on?

I've not made any reservations just yet. I'm still looking/thinking about it all. Count me in for the GTG... I'll be there!

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone.

fall is a very busy time in NE, especially around boston with the beautiful weather, college football games and parents visiting kids at colleges...

plus hotel rates have skyrocketed in boston over the last year or so....

cynstalker Aug 27th, 2007 05:35 AM

Is it too late for another addition? I'm pretty sure we can come this year!
I'll email you Bob!

Carol-
I was just able to book the Hotel@MIT through the tripleA website; if you're a member you could try it. I called to check with the hotel, and they tell me they have no rooms, but the AAA people insist they reserve a block of rooms and still had availability.

rhkkmk Aug 28th, 2007 09:21 AM

i can't believe it but i just did a search on AAA for the hotel @ mit and they are showing rooms for $139 for the nite of the GTG....grab them while they are still there!!!

rhkkmk Aug 28th, 2007 09:26 AM

now it is showing no rooms available...

cynstalker Aug 28th, 2007 09:56 AM

Plus, it didn't end up at 139 - when you clicked through, it became more expensive, although for Boston, do-able.

about the same as last year....30....

distance winners thus far:

mimi----around the corner
ingo----the former east germany
lcuy----the former free territory of HI

lcuy Sep 30th, 2007 02:41 PM

That's the former Kingdom of Hawaii or US Territory of Hawaii!

At the Pasadena GTG, M/M HawaiianTraveler beat me distance-wise, since their home is farther from HNL airport. Thank goodness they're not coming to Boston. I'm so eager to win the 49 cent prize! ;-)

rhkkmk Sep 30th, 2007 04:02 PM

there has been a budget crisis....the prize now values out at 24 cents...
