Andy, you are improving nicely in your limerick writing. Pretty soon you will be able to learn other poetic forms as well.

I'll be in Switzerland/Germany first part of December. It's too early to tell if I'd be in BKK in May. I'll know in about March...

just so theres no confusion, my yes was in response to kristinas question, but who knows, i may be there in may also, depends upon my probation officer,(you know, time off for good behavior).

Gpanda Aug 20th, 2007 01:59 AM

K-why do I suspect that it's your parole officer that's relevant, not your probation officer. I'm guessing, however, that they're good friends.

I waited too long to book the Hotel@MIT and now it's full! AAARGH!

Suggestions for something nearby? Walking distance would be helpful. I won't be renting a car since I'm only looking at a Fri noon thru Sun am visit this time.

Carol - the Hampton Inn Boston/Cambridge is walking distance from the Thai restaurant. We stayed there for the last GTG and it was fine - free breakfast too!

Carol...I called AmExp Platinum months ago to ask about the price of the Hotel@MIT. It's hiked up to $290. I usually get quite good room rates from AmExp Platinum. Before I paid in the $235-$250 range... but...not over $250. So then I called the Hotel@MIT directly and the same price was quoted. So had it been available, the price hike probably would have sent you into shock. I don't know what other choices are nearby. My friends who came a couple of years ago, were also looking for nearby places. They ended up staying at a Holiday Inn,I think it was, but they had a car. It was pretty nearby. Their place cost more than my then room at the Hotel@MIT and was nowhere near as nice, plus the roof in the lobby of their place was leaking. I went there and saw the place. They came over to my room to shower and rest since their room wasn't going to be ready until 4PM. They had driven all the way up from New Jersey and N.Y. and were tired.
Now that I have so many things to do in October, I won't be able to make it anyway...but hopefully next year will be possible. Whatever you do, you'd better book something and fast. Happy Travels!

The Royal Sonesta is also within easy walking distance of the Thai restaurant. There's also a Marriott that is within walking distance of the Hotel@MIT.

As long as we are talking about cost, the AARP rate at the Hampton is just over $300 with tax, so there are no bargains out there.
