Bob-stop threatening the invitees.

Guenmai-we'd love to see you again. You added a certain je ne sais quoi to the affair.

Kathie-there will be several tables. You don't have to sit with Bob. Many of the attendees are fun and knowledgeable.

I'd love to meet all of you, too! I'll have to see what unfolds as we get closer to the date.

Guenmai Mar 13th, 2006 04:59 PM

I'll try to make it,too. I'll have to get the ticket within the next month or so. Last year, I bought it around June and non-stops from L.A. to Boston were sold out on Delta and Delta affiliates which I flew. I called last weekend and the non-stop route is open, but Song Airline is being fizzled out because I asked about a seat on Song and was told it wouldn't be in existance by October. It will blend in with regular Delta. So, is this date a definite? I have a voucher and will have to drive all the way to LAX...an hour in traffic... to have it ticketed at the airport since the Delta office which was 15 minutes from my house closed some years ago...as did many airline offices. Happy Travels!

I do think the date is "set" now for Oct 7. I hope you can make it. Bob said to put it in "ink" so I did. I've booked the hotel@mit for that night but will probably visit the NE for a week this time. I hope the fall color is better this year.

Things are looking positive for me, as my daughter has a race in Boston on 10/8! This is important, as two events justify the time and expense, whereas just a GTG with the infamous Needham/Boston Fodorongs; thats a tougher sell!!

the 7th is definate...

rhkkmk Mar 13th, 2006 07:41 PM

guen...providence can often be a good destination as well....often you can save quite a bit on tickets, including southwest....

Guenmai
I like to fly into Manchester NH and rent a car, rather than flying into Boston Logan. MHT is smaller and very easy to navigate. I can get a nonstop from ORD in the early morning. I like that. I can return to ORD from MHT around 5 in the afternoon. Good flight times, in my book. I like the "last flight out" when having to go home from a vacation.

manchester and providence have about the same service, esp. with southwest

Thanks folks for the info. I have a $400. voucher on Delta which I had planned to save if we have another Honolulu GTG since airfare to Honolulu can be very high in the summer. But, it might be cheaper to just get another Expedia package deal...like last year...if I end up in Honolulu again. So, I plan to use the voucher for the Boston GTG...every little bit helps. Remember, last year I was on a Red Eye, out of L.A., to Boston and was on the plane, with my seatbelt fastened and ready to go...it was well after midnight...and I was beyond exhausted. Well, I gave up my seat to an elderly woman who really needed to get to Atlanta and she looked more exhauted than I did. She was so grateful. No one else would give up their seat on that flight. It was a mess of a flight. I was routed through Atlanta since all the non-stops to Boston were sold out. Delta gave me a voucher and sent me over to a very fleabag hotel...where I slept...with one eye open and one closed...for a few hours before getting up and going back to the airport to catch a non-stop flight on to Boston on Song(a Delta affiliate airline). If I had stayed on the first flight, I would have arrived Boston in the afternoon, but by giving up my seat, I didn't arrive until very late on Friday night. Then I flew back to L.A. on Sunday. But, it was great coming and also seeing my friends who drove the four- hour drive all the way from Jersey and N.Y. to be with me. I seldom see them. So, I shall pencil this coming GTG in on my calendar and I'll call the hotel this weekend because that hotel is booked solid months in advance. It was a great hotel! And the food was absolutely delicious. I ate all of my meals at the hotel. Happy Travel!

Yay. All are welcome to Cambridge. Do the out-of-towners want to do a dinner again?

rhkkmk Mar 14th, 2006 09:18 AM

duh----it was even more fun than the GTG....

simpsonc510 Mar 14th, 2006 09:28 AM

Count me in for dinner once again! Son Brad is hoping to join us also, but has not "inked in" the date like I have!!
Carol

(Guenmai... glad to see you are working on coming too)

Guenmai Mar 14th, 2006 09:42 AM

Yeah, Carole...I'm working on it and we'll have to sit at the same table next time. Happy Travels!

Gpanda Mar 14th, 2006 11:06 AM

Bob, attendess recall your shenanigans about the cash at dinner. Particularly Brad. Ant invitation to you is provisional.
