best area of Singapore to book a hotel

My family and I will be visiting Singapore for 7 nights in March 2016 and were wondering what is the best area of the city to book a hotel.

Thanks,

For me the best is inside the central bison's district as close as possible to an MRT station. I love the location of the Fairmont.

A week is a long time in Singapore. Are there particular things you want to be close to?

Hi Kathie,

Thanks for your reply.

My 9 year old daughter wants to go to LEGOLAND. Is one day there enough or should we be thinking of 2 days?

Other than that the highlights of the city would be good to see.

I like to be near an MRT station. Singapore is very small so somewhere in the core area will be fine. I'll be back down there soon and have days at both The Fairmont and the Four Seasons.

As for 7 days, I see no problem with that unless you prefer to rush through Singapore with a 9-year-old. There's plenty to keep you busy there. I've stayed up to 2 weeks at a time and will be there for 7 nights this coming time. If I were taking my elementary-school-aged nieces/nephew, I'd also spend a week in Singapore.

Ask your daughter how much time she wants at Legoland. As someone who has never found theme parks appealing, I'm the wrong person to ask!

"For me the best is inside the central bison's district"

There are so many buffalo in Singapore that they have their own district? I learn something new every day.

Don't you love the odd corrections auto-correct makes? I didn't see that until I was ready to post my second comment. No way to edit it, so I figured people would just have to enjoy it!

Oh no! Please don't tell me that I just wasted several hours trying to find a hotel in the bison district -- I loved the idea! ;-)

Singapore is safe and convenient. The Orchard area for shopping, the Civic Area for theaters and museums ( all walking distances ) or the Marina Bay area for amazing views and the business district. You can also consider the Chinatown area where there are eclectic hotels. Public transport is cheap and convenient and taxis are clean and safe. So no matter where you stay Singapore is quite small to get around. Light clothing - we're casual here in Singapore and it does get humid and wet at times. As for Legoland - look for a 2-day 1 night trip with transfers and hotel stay there. It may be the better option.
