Ah I was on ANA. The luggage rules are ever changing. I have an oversize suitcase and will use it next time.

As lcuy says, United told me you only get your first bag free. If you already are getting a free one because you're traveling internationally, that's all you get. I spoke to United, as well as Thai Air about this in the past. I doubt you'll get your $100 back, but you may want to contact Chase instead of United.
That said, I just made reservations to go to Japan with United, and my receipt says I get two free bags. Go figure. |
Just looked at my United etickets with the baggage allowance printed on them at two bags pp free...we have the Presidential Plus United Chase card that I use and are flying ecco plus to SFO and then home from NYC, but we are not a gold member. Those tickets were bought with FFP. We have two other international flights with FFP on United partners in BC both of those allow two free bags also.
For our flights on Virgin Australia, two are in country, ecco with one free bag and I paid extra for a second bag (a just in case so I wouldn't have to worry) since the allowance is less than other airlines. The other flight is international and in BC where the allowance is two bags pp. Normally we travel with a carry on and a checked bag each. As long as the allowance is 50 pounds. that seems to work for us. Luggage rules are a real pain you know where any more!! |
