Oh my God it was not in my plans to shouted you guys why should I do that? Well I think is the last time I post I feel very sad all the time I read these kind of things first with the lenguage then you think I am joking with all of you I really went to Dominican Republic on plane but as I said after I came to Italy in the last one I had a the problem that is why I have here one year and five month and that means that I had the problem with the passport and then I support myself working as a baby sister and working in a bread store, I dont like hijack threads. I do have a major problem with flying and for sure I know this is not Dr.Phil show I think I am here to talk about the trips and get some help with my problem but I see that is not like this. I was joking with the flying to Russia then to Alaska etc. There is not a cruise from Italy to NYC. GUYS IS OK IF YOU ALL THINK I AM HAVING A JOKE WITH YOU, I WILL TRY TO GET HELP BY OTHER WAY, THANK YOU.

You're working as a baby sister? I'm assuming you mean baby sitter, but that's kinda funny.

Seriously, take a pill (the prescribed amount, not a handful please) and get on the plane. Book an aisle seat, tell the flight attendants that you're terrified of flying and happily drugged and they'll look after you.

Commercial flights are incredibly safe, much more so than any personal vehicle you travel in. You are probably more likely to win the jackpot lotto than you are to be killed on a large commercial flight. If something does happen on the flight, there are multiple levels of redundancies to prevent a crash.

I realize that a phobia is an irrational fear, but it's time to deal.

Thank you

actually, there are cruises from Civitavecchia (sp?) to new York. Carnival has one:

Carnival would not be my first choice of cruise lines, but maybe you'll like it, brida.

But, I agree with Iowa - it's time to get over this.

You don't need to get mad at us. We already gave you the answer. See your doctor for a prescription for Valium or Xanax, and take that for the flight. These are "anti-anxiety" medications meant for just this kind of situation.

How were we supposed to know you WERE joking about flying to Russia & Alaska, but were NOT joking about taking a cruise or your fear of flying?

This morning's news about the AF Rio to Paris flight disappearing from radar -- must be very encouraging to all who fear flying.....

mamamia2 Jun 1st, 2009 11:40 AM

Trying to understand Brida's fear, I would guess she feels unsafe flying over the ocean, 'cause if something goes wrong with the plane, there is much better chance for a safe emergency landing when flying over land -- than over the ocean..... Last night's AF disappearing over the ocean sure doesn't make it easier for people like her.....

...Or for ANY flyer.

I was thinking the same thing mamamia2. Really sad news about the AF plane just disappearing.

And we'll probably NEVER FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED..... Never finding the Black Box means the mystery of what happened would be haunting us for years.....

This YouTube is REALLY frightening, Adam Air, Indonesian 737 crashing into the ocean on Jan. 1, 2007:
