Germanwings or TUI?

Going to Germany this winter/spring. Any experiences on either of these low-cost German airlines?

We flew TUIfly from Munich to Venice in Sept. '07. Nothing exciting, nothing bad. We had a smooth flight, no problems or complaints. Price was very reasonable, departed and landed on time.

Have taken both- good experiences. Friendly. Cattle call boarding on both, check in early.

Germanwings is a subsidiary of Lufthansa.

TUIfly belongs to Germany's largest travel organisation.

Both are budget airlines. This means, there are some restrictions (e.g. you might pay for checked baggage, you might pay for food onboard), otherwise they are professionally operated, reliable carriers.

Watch for airports. Budget carriers often avoid the main city airports and use secondary airports which might be less desirable. Better look on a map before you book.
