Dbl EQMs UA
OK, so I went to this site and registered (twice... I registered on Sep 2 and again on Sep 3, just to make sure I was within their time requirement of Sep 3 to Dec....
http://www.united.com/page/article/1..._500bonusmiles When I go to My Promotions on the UA site, under my profile, it says that I have registered for the summer sale on 9-3-09 .... nothing about THIS promotion about dbl eqms. Any thoughts? Is this for real? I assume so. I'd just like to see something that confirms that I have registered for the right thing. I have flights to HNL, MHT, and BKK all within the time frame required. 1K will be a breeze this year... if this is for real. Carol |
The only question may be if the trips you have purchased need to be purchased during the promo time in order to qualify?
If you already have the tickets they may not be eligible for the promo. Read the fine print. btw, AA is doing the same promo. Just got the e-mail couple of days ago, registered and got e-mail confirmation. |
I registered all three of us and noted the same (not showing in My Promotions yet), as have many on Flyertalk. Actually, the registration link (the one you posted above) is not working at the moment either. I expect they're just finalizing some things, or weren't ready for the rush when everyone found it yesterday, or something.
My guess is that it's for real. American's promotion is out there, and given the head-to-head competition here in Chicago, I can't see United not matching. I'd suggest checking the thread on Flyertalk over the next few days as it gets sorted out...there are a lot of people there watching this very closely. |
When the fine print was available yesterday, there was no mention of a restriction on when tickets were purchased.
|
Hi Carol,
Is UA having another promotion? When I go to the site you listed above there is no explanation....only the words " Earn double elite qualifying miles or double elite qualifying segments" Too bad you didn't see and take advantage of this one earlier this year http://www.fodors.com/community/air-...-on-united.cfm mrwurfl should be here soon with the answers ;) Aloha! |
ht If you can still register at that site, and I assume you can since I did DH about an hour ago, I'd certainly DO IT. It can't hurt.
I didn't see anything in the fine print about when you had to purchase tickets. I'm assuming that all my paid (eticket) trips (I always book on line) are qualified for this dbl eqm promotion. I read on flyer talk, about the first 4-5 pages of the discussion of this topic. Seems to be a good deal; but no one is seeing it yet under "My Promotions" (which I really had to search for to find on UA). Fingers crossed... Carol |
I just called Mileage Plus (not reservations) for something completely unrelated, and while on the phone I asked about this. The agent was unaware; seems like they're not quite ready to roll...
|
HT, I can see that the link is no longer working. I'm sure it was just too bogged down w/traffic, so they had to go to plan B.
Waiting for any good news. ms-go, that doesn't sound good that the agent was unaware... Carol |

Try this one. Just saw it on flyer talk. It looks like it works. |
Oooops... never mind.......
|
ht, if you go to flyer talk forums, and then find United Mileage Plus talk, you can find the discussion of this promo. On page 14 of that discussion there was a link that just worked about 5 minutes ago. You might try that. Don't give up.
Carol |
It's now officially on the Promotions page.
http://www.united.com/page/article/0...linkTitle=2air It hasn't showed up on "My Promotions" yet, but I'll give that a little time. It does say some registrations take 48 hours to process. |
Thanks for that information, ms-go. I'll be watching for my registration to appear in a few days.
|
>>>1K will be a breeze this year... if this is for real.<<<
Indeed. As kindly noted by the 'ms_', UA's 'fall' DEQM is on, so, look forward to forthcoming trans-pac to beloved Bangkok. (For yours truly, the promo makes 'our fifth' Loy Krathong celebration by the river all the sweeter -- though, I (and perhaps, another) remain rather partial to that special Singaporean airline.) Have fun (and don't forget my all-time cherished Aviva masseuse -- oh yes, she's back). robert ... it's time to fly ... |
I registered and it didn't show up under my united.com/mypromotions yet.
Carole, your ticket will qualify for flying between Sept 3 and Dec 15. You didn't have to register BY Sept 3. The last chance to register is Dec 15. You don't even have to register before you fly. "Segments on paid qualifying roundtrips flown during the offer travel period, even if flown before registration." There is nothing in the Ts&Cs that restrict the purchase date. The DEQM offer in the spring did have a purchase date restriction, but there was another offer that you could take to waive that restriction (thank goodness). Just e-ticket and fly Sept 2 to Dec 15. Your fare qualifies. Interesting that you can choose DEQM or DEQS (previous offers gave both). If you register for both then you will get DEQM. So if you want DEQS (who does?, none of us) then don't reg for DEQM. Anybody know what MPW029 was? |
The folks that do the united website have proven that they are not the sharpest, so give them a chance to fix mypromotions.
|
I didn't include the full quote above. Here it is:
<i>Registered members will earn either double Elite Qualifying Miles or double Elite Qualifying Segments on paid qualifying roundtrips flown during the offer travel period, even if flown before registration.</i> |
MPW029 is/was DEQM for Aussies. Not combineable with this new offer.
|
Wasn't MPW029 the exception for those who'd bought tickets prior to the UA's spring DEQM promotion?
|
Oops, I guess not.
|
I registered day before yesterday (and again yesterday) and it was showing up in My Promotions sometime mid-day yesterday--probably just after I posted that it wasn't there.
I'm not sure I'll get anything out of this promo. With already-booked travel, I should get to 1K and husband and daughter to Premier Exec without it. At best, maybe one of us will be close enough to think about the next highest elite choice level (which has carry-over EQMs)--but I haven't run any numbers yet, and we don't yet know if/where we have to travel for the holidays. |
DH, DS and I are now registered, as it shows up under "My Promotions."
I have flts as such: Sept PIA-HNL Oct PIA-MHT Oct ORD-BKK Nov ORD-ZRH Dec ORD-BKK The flight to Zurich is on Swiss, so I won't get DEQMs on it, but I'll still get the actual miles flown. And the Dec flight to BKK will be after the Dec 15 deadline, but I'll still get actual miles flown. The rest of them will qualify for DEQMs... What is the "next level" that earns something over and above 1K? Is there something at 125? or is it not until 150? I need to figure out exactly where I'll be by Dec 31, EQM-wise. I'm pretty sure it will be 125, but probably not quite 150. Carol |
125k is an elite choice milestone, if you signed up for that promo earlier in the year. Without looking, I believe one of the choices at that level is the ability to carry forward 5,000 EQMs/5 EQSs to 2010.
150k is a milestone for two additional systemwide upgrades. |
Just checked... I won't quite make 150 (136k is where I'll be) but would love to get the two additional upgrades! Darn! I don't think there is any way I can get to 150. I'm pretty booked up right now... haha
|
do the bonus eqm count towards attaining the next level?
|
Aloha!
Yep, Ken. That's what they are designed for. They will help you move "up" to the next level. The extra miles do not accrue in your ff miles account at all though (if I understand correctly). See you soon, Ken! Carol |
Up until this promo I thought I would drop to GM from 1P but it looks like I'll be able to at least make 2P with the DEQM and a mileage run or two. Business travel has been way down for me this year. I may even drop from Diamond to Gold with HH. I have made 1P on segments for the past several years but this will be the first year to make anything with miles.
|
you understand correctly, this offer is not for RDMs (redeemable miles for awards) and is just for status, but you are already getting double RDMs due to your status.
|
I got an e-mail about the DEQM offer, registered again, and saw that mypromotions showed I registered on the 4th.
There was a second offer in the e-mail for an additional Elite Choice. Register here: http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6867,52922,00.html |
I re-registered yesterday as well. And, I saw that added year-end elite choice bonus of 2 SWUs @ 125k. Just when I thought I was all set for the year; was set to end the year at 116k...now :?
|
I didn't see anything about an added year-end choice. I re-registered this morning, just to see if it would come up. I will be at 136k when all is said and done, so that 125 bonus would be lovely. Wish I could find out how to register for it.
C |
OK... found it. I registered for international 1K. Should I also register for domestic 1K? Did you register for both?
|
Carol, did you get the email yesterday? Ours (my email and DD's) had a registration link for the elite choice in the email, below the DEQM link. Or, try the link in mrwunrfl's post just above.
|
I didn't get any email from UA yesterday... :( but I did find the registration link, so it's done.
Carol |
You should register for domestic 1K. I believe the "international 1K" is for those based in other countries. Without looking, I think some of the awards are adjusted given that certain things may not be as relevant for people outside the US.
|
You might want to go into your ual.com profile and make sure that you're signed up to receive certain promotional announcements.
|
OK, I went back in and registered for domestic. I thought I was signed up for promotional announcements, but I'll check that out! Thanks, ms_go.
|
I called Mileage Plus and was told they don't have any record of me being registered for the DEQM promotion (MPW049), even though it shows on MyPromotions (I initially registered "early"; on Sept 2). The agent was not able to register me and referred me to web support. Apparently others are having this issue, too. I think I'll just sit tight for now and wait for them to sort out the problems, especially since this promo will only make a difference IF I decide to go for the 125k level. But, FYI to anyone else who is counting on this...
|
I think I'll give them a call today. I also show that I registered on Sept 2 for DEQMs. I guess it isn't urgent that I earn them, because without them I'll be just over 1K this year. With them, 136K+.
I need to call the number on my prem exec card anyway, to ask about my Dec/Jan flights. I know... I'm a procrastinator! |
You can fly Asiana ORD-ICN-BKK-ICN-ORD for $1532 roundtrip, outbound Dec. 15, inbound Jan. 4. This is a *A carrier and one of the best airlines in the world, apparently. The catch is that there would be a 12-hour layover in Seoul outbound and another 10-hour layover coming home.
