Dbl EQMs UA

OK, so I went to this site and registered (twice... I registered on Sep 2 and again on Sep 3, just to make sure I was within their time requirement of Sep 3 to Dec....

http://www.united.com/page/article/1..._500bonusmiles

When I go to My Promotions on the UA site, under my profile, it says that I have registered for the summer sale on 9-3-09 .... nothing about THIS promotion about dbl eqms.

Any thoughts? Is this for real? I assume so. I'd just like to see something that confirms that I have registered for the right thing. I have flights to HNL, MHT, and BKK all within the time frame required. 1K will be a breeze this year... if this is for real.

The only question may be if the trips you have purchased need to be purchased during the promo time in order to qualify?

If you already have the tickets they may not be eligible for the promo. Read the fine print.

btw, AA is doing the same promo. Just got the e-mail couple of days ago, registered and got e-mail confirmation.

ms_go Sep 3rd, 2009 06:48 AM

I registered all three of us and noted the same (not showing in My Promotions yet), as have many on Flyertalk. Actually, the registration link (the one you posted above) is not working at the moment either. I expect they're just finalizing some things, or weren't ready for the rush when everyone found it yesterday, or something.

My guess is that it's for real. American's promotion is out there, and given the head-to-head competition here in Chicago, I can't see United not matching. I'd suggest checking the thread on Flyertalk over the next few days as it gets sorted out...there are a lot of people there watching this very closely.

ms_go Sep 3rd, 2009 06:50 AM

When the fine print was available yesterday, there was no mention of a restriction on when tickets were purchased.

Hi Carol,

Is UA having another promotion? When I go to the site you listed above there is no explanation....only the words " Earn double elite qualifying miles or double elite qualifying segments"

Too bad you didn't see and take advantage of this one earlier this year

mrwurfl should be here soon with the answers ;)

Aloha!

ht If you can still register at that site, and I assume you can since I did DH about an hour ago, I'd certainly DO IT. It can't hurt.

I didn't see anything in the fine print about when you had to purchase tickets. I'm assuming that all my paid (eticket) trips (I always book on line) are qualified for this dbl eqm promotion.

I read on flyer talk, about the first 4-5 pages of the discussion of this topic. Seems to be a good deal; but no one is seeing it yet under "My Promotions" (which I really had to search for to find on UA).

Fingers crossed...

I just called Mileage Plus (not reservations) for something completely unrelated, and while on the phone I asked about this. The agent was unaware; seems like they're not quite ready to roll...

simpsonc510 Sep 3rd, 2009 07:31 AM

HT, I can see that the link is no longer working. I'm sure it was just too bogged down w/traffic, so they had to go to plan B.

Waiting for any good news.

ms-go, that doesn't sound good that the agent was unaware...

Try this one. Just saw it on flyer talk. It looks like it works.

simpsonc510 Sep 3rd, 2009 07:50 AM

Oooops... never mind.......

simpsonc510 Sep 3rd, 2009 08:09 AM

ht, if you go to flyer talk forums, and then find United Mileage Plus talk, you can find the discussion of this promo. On page 14 of that discussion there was a link that just worked about 5 minutes ago. You might try that. Don't give up.

It's now officially on the Promotions page.

http://www.united.com/page/article/0...linkTitle=2air

It hasn't showed up on "My Promotions" yet, but I'll give that a little time. It does say some registrations take 48 hours to process.

simpsonc510 Sep 3rd, 2009 10:15 AM

Thanks for that information, ms-go. I'll be watching for my registration to appear in a few days.

>>>1K will be a breeze this year... if this is for real.<<<

Indeed. As kindly noted by the 'ms_', UA's 'fall' DEQM is on, so, look forward to forthcoming trans-pac to beloved Bangkok. (For yours truly, the promo makes 'our fifth' Loy Krathong celebration by the river all the sweeter -- though, I (and perhaps, another) remain rather partial to that special Singaporean airline.)

Have fun (and don't forget my all-time cherished Aviva masseuse -- oh yes, she's back).

... it's time to fly ...

mrwunrfl Sep 4th, 2009 12:25 AM

I registered and it didn't show up under my united.com/mypromotions yet.

Carole, your ticket will qualify for flying between Sept 3 and Dec 15. You didn't have to register BY Sept 3. The last chance to register is Dec 15. You don't even have to register before you fly.

"Segments on paid qualifying roundtrips flown during the offer travel period, even if flown before registration."

There is nothing in the Ts&Cs that restrict the purchase date. The DEQM offer in the spring did have a purchase date restriction, but there was another offer that you could take to waive that restriction (thank goodness).

Just e-ticket and fly Sept 2 to Dec 15. Your fare qualifies.

Interesting that you can choose DEQM or DEQS (previous offers gave both). If you register for both then you will get DEQM. So if you want DEQS (who does?, none of us) then don't reg for DEQM.

Anybody know what MPW029 was?

mrwunrfl Sep 4th, 2009 12:27 AM

The folks that do the united website have proven that they are not the sharpest, so give them a chance to fix mypromotions.

mrwunrfl Sep 4th, 2009 12:30 AM

I didn't include the full quote above. Here it is:

<i>Registered members will earn either double Elite Qualifying Miles or double Elite Qualifying Segments on paid qualifying roundtrips flown during the offer travel period, even if flown before registration.</i>

mrwunrfl Sep 4th, 2009 12:46 AM

MPW029 is/was DEQM for Aussies. Not combineable with this new offer.

Melnq8 Sep 4th, 2009 12:48 AM

Wasn't MPW029 the exception for those who'd bought tickets prior to the UA's spring DEQM promotion?

Melnq8 Sep 4th, 2009 12:49 AM

Oops, I guess not.
