Another succesful AA OneWorld award booking
The only thing we had to change was the Caracas, VE part of the trip. We wanted to visit at the end of the trip but had to move it to the begining of the trip.
The rest of the trip was bookable with the dates we wanted. AMERICAN AIRLINES 381 TPA Tampa Jan 05, 2008 07:35 AM SJU San Juan Jan 05, 2008 11:20 AM Business U AMERICAN AIRLINES 1985 SJU San Juan Jan 05, 2008 12:45 PM CCS Caracas Jan 05, 2008 02:25 PM Business U LAN CHILE 569 CCS Caracas Jan 11, 2008 11:55 AM GYE Guayaquil Jan 11, 2008 02:00 PM Business U LAN CHILE 569 GYE Guayaquil Jan 11, 2008 02:45 PM SCL Santiago Jan 11, 2008 09:25 PM Business U LAN CHILE 841 SCL Santiago Jan 12, 2008 09:10 AM IPC Easter Island Jan 12, 2008 12:50 PM Business U LAN CHILE 842 IPC Easter Island Jan 15, 2008 01:50 PM SCL Santiago Jan 15, 2008 08:30 PM Business U LAN CHILE OPERATED BY /LANEXPRESS 285 SCL Santiago Jan 16, 2008 10:55 AM PUQ Punta Arenas Jan 16, 2008 02:15 PM Economy T BRITISH AIRWAYS 246 EZE Buenos Aires Jan 24, 2008 01:15 PM GRU Sao Paulo Jan 24, 2008 04:50 PM Business U AMERICAN AIRLINES 930 GRU Sao Paulo Jan 25, 2008 01:55 AM MIA Miami Jan 25, 2008 07:10 AM Business U AMERICAN AIRLINES 1234 MIA Miami Jan 25, 2008 08:30 AM TPA Tampa Jan 25, 2008 09:30 AM First Z 115K miles per plus $128 in taxes and fees. |
So that's Tampa to Caracas with one connection. Several days in Caracas.
Then Caracas to Santiago with one connection. Overnight connection in Santiago to go to Easter Island. Couple of days on EI. Return to Santiago for an overnight connection to Punta Arenas. Travel by ground or other air ticket to Buenos Aires. Return from B.A. to Tampa with 2 connections and a redeye flight. Stops in Caracas, Easter Island, Punta Arenas, and Buenos Aires. How much would it cost to buy? |
You are very fortunate that you can fly on Jan. 5. Trying to get that award between Dec. 15 and Jan. 2 would be a challenge.
Have a good trip. Many of us can only fly during the summer and holidays. |
AAFF, how on earth (haha pun kind of intended) do you earn all these miles?? I'm astounded!
|
I always "saved" some miles. It wasn't that hard when all I needed was 1 ticket per year. It looks like the miles will be disappearing quicker now that my gf will be joining me on these yearly vacations.
Few miles in the "bank", ~125K miles actually flown per year, status bonus doubles the above. Couple of promos here and there and we're up to 300K miles per year just from AA. Then another 50K miles or so from other sources, such as a CC, phone, restaurants, internet, hotels, etc.... There you have it..... |
amazing. and yes, it stinks when the s.o. (significant other) sucks up all your miles ;) but i've done it to him on vacation before....
we only earn enough miles to vacation in economy class for free once every other year, but hey we can't complain! this year we're headed to europe with those miles, smilin' ear to ear! your itinerary looks amazing. L |
